It's been 2 weeks since i started and i havent seen any progress yet. When am i going to start seeing the gains? I heard that the beginning of your lifting is when you see the gains the most and not to waste it...but i havent seen anything! I havent gained any weight, am not stronger..not even by a little bit! I expected to gain at least a pound...this really kills the little motivation i actually had....

Do you feel sore at times? Do not give up. Its hard to notice your muscle growing. Like your height. Do you notice urself getting taller other than going to check it?

Nope...never sore...I havent noticed ANY change...and i've been eating so much more and still havent gained a pound!

Your not training hard enough. Even after warming up rigorously, i still get sore sometimes. Its mainly because your muscles are getting bigger I think. You should lift heavier. Do 1 RM workouts. It'll definitely get you big.

tell us what your workout is like right now. make sure you aren't just eating more, but also eating right.

actually siyuan, if you feel sore during a workout, then you are lifting improperly, or you arent stretching before, during the rest between sets and after your workout. you should never feel sore during a workout, after maybe. and you shouldnt feel "the burn" like you would when doing cardio either. if you feel that, then you are making a workout more into a cardio session. like circuit training. and if you are going for size it is the complete wrong thing to do, circuit training that is. and also when you feel the burn, its something to do with lactic acid (might be wrong on the type of acid) building up in your muscle fibers which will end up making it hard to go heavier and have a more intense workout. this is why you rest 2-3 min. between sets. and also, you do not build muscle during your workout. the capability to lift more as each set goes on is just you working your muscles harder so that they will grow. when you stop working out and rest. especially when you sleep. which is why that is important. now if i could only sleep more, i would probably see better gains.

I do hardcore warm-ups then I beast it. I lift HARDCORE everyday. Basically almost my limit but I still try to push. I actually have a problem gaining weight also. I have to eat 2 lunches...a HUGE breakfast and 2 dinners. With 85% of that protein.

well duh its only been 2 weeks. it takes months and years with hard work and good diet to get good gains. it doesnt happen over night. the gains will come faster after the 1st few months but later they get slower and slower as your body gets older so youll have to work harder and stay on a more strict diet as the years go by, unless ur under 18 then when u hit 18 ur testostarone will peak and youll get better gains, but after 18 youll start to slow down. stick with it, dont give up, work hard and youll see gains soon enough dont worry.

Being sore after a workout or the next day doesnt mean you are lifing improperly or working out hard enough. There is no connection in D.O.M.S (delay onset muscle soreness) and progress. Also i wouldnt stretch when your muscle are not properly warmed up. Stretching before warming up could cause more muscle breakdown and possible injury. What does your diet consist of? and what exercises are in your current plan?

It also depends on the intensity of your workout, do you just go into the gym and liftweights or do you make it a workout, and get a workout partner to make you go the extra mile

when I just started working out I didnt feel anythining either....but soon I got myself a better routine and starting to get REALLY soar...to the point where my arms would be stuck in a bent position and i wouldnt be able to make them straight....it just takes more time...for my I didn't see any VISUAL results in like 2-3 months....but then I started getting bigger and stronger :)

i know what you guys are saying about the muscle soreness. If you feel sore durning workouts, you might be hurting yourself. If you feel sore the next day, your probobly helping yourself. Also, when you wake up in the morning and your sore, try stretching. I know it might sound rediculous, but streching helps me a lot, just to get some more movement and flexability in that area.

dude i hecka feel you it takes a while for some people dont give up it'll happen ive been training for nearly 3 months now and ive only gained 2 pounds : ( you just need to stay focused and go pretty soon it becomes part of you and its like a vacation every time you go to the gym

2 weeks is nothing. Patience! This is not an easy sport. If it was, every guy would be freakin' huge. If you're measuring just one variable, then you won't always be able to tell what's going on. You could have easily exchanged a pound of fat for a pound of muscle. Your body composition could have not changed at all because you didn't eat enough or the right foods, or worse, you lost muscle and gained fat. So, do all the measurements. Neck, upper arms, forearms, shoulders, chest, stomach, hips, butt, thighs and calves. Measure the bodyfat. At the same time of the day, if you can. Weekly should be enough.

ORIGINAL: chisum1357 this is why you rest 2-3 min. between sets. I thought You were only supposed to rest 30-45 seconds between sets. Resting 2-3 minutes seems like it would let you cool off too much.
