it sucks because i don't have all kinds of time to wait and lift and drink my drinks
Some days I don't really have time either, but I'm on day 4 and so far so good. Protein drinks do a pretty good job of holding you over for an hour or so while you wait or if you're on the way out and won't be back to take your supps till later. Yesterday I was busy all day and had a 7 hour gap before I had a chance to eat, so I just crammed in all my calories last night.
