Welcome to DB BigNTall!
I'll add my two points.
1--
Here's an article in regards to Whey protein and fat loss
2-- Djduhon is correct. You are about to really journey into the nutrition aspect of it. In fact, you could lose a ton of weight by diet changes alone and just a 3x a week, light workout. Without sounding salesman like.. but being honest, I think you could get a ton of knowledge about nutrition from a 337 page e-book called
Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle. I have it, bought it, read it (well still reading it cuz I'm a slow reader) but it's an awesome read. It's got really good details on how to eat, when to eat, what to eat and how food can be thermogenic.
There's a ton of good info in the Nutrition forum that may be of use to you. Basically, you eat more often.. yes.. eat more often.. 5-6 meals a day.. putting your body into a burning phase and keeping it out of starvation. Of course, those 6 meals are complex carbs, proteins and healthy fats.
You really have to commit to making a big lifestyle change in eating but I'm 99.9% positive if you do, you will notice results quite fast. And there's a lot of really good foods out there that will help you reach that goal. Meals do get repetitive but hey.. you'll be a chicken connoisseur soon enough.
Good luck, keep us updated, read the threads and posts and ask questions if you have them.
