Newbie impressed by this nice place! - Monday, September 22, 2003 2:57 PM ( #1 )
Hello from London England, ladies and gentlemen!

I'm JayBee, and I found this site after doing a Google search for "Max-OT". I am thoroughly impressed by the knowledgeable and good-natured posts I've been reading here.

A little about me...I'm 35, and I've trained on and off, mostly off, since 1986. Up until recently I was GROSSLY overtraining...I'd go a few weeks and train every bodypart 3 times a week, because I'd read in a magazine (way back when) that you had to give your muscles a day of rest in between sets.

Until a few months ago, nobody enlightened me about the error of my ways. I suspect I've shot out my shoulders - although they don't complain in the gym, they give me a mild ache once in a blue moon, and I fear I've really overtrained them. You hear horror stories about some people losing all the cartiliage in the overtrained areas...

Anyway, back to me. I'm a Microsoft qualified SQL programmer, 240Ibs and a shade under 6'0", and for me the most important thing is quality of life, but like all human beings, I often forget that from day to day. UNLIKE most other people, I'm making a concious effort to make every day better, and better, whether that means helping my dad with his PC, or my friend install a webcam at her nursery, or even just flirting with a plain waitress that nobody ever hits on - remember, they have feelings too!

One thing I always stress to people, and it's just as appropriate here as anywhere else...I'm a gentle giant. I don't want anybody to ever feel intimidated by me. Remember the question that the Mafia used to ask initiates to guage if they were 'right' for the task, "Would you rather be loved, or feared?" That is a particularly good question. If you're feared, chances are you won't be loved (for long) and that means loneliness.

What else...loving son, doting uncle to a beautiful 18mth old niece and a strapping 15mnth old nephew, helpful neighbour, proud owner of a Saab 900SE convertible, churchgoer (of the liberal variety!) and, as you'll see from my sig, admirer of French members of the fairer gender....

Baah, I've rambled on long enough for an intro!

I look forward to chatting with you all! As I'm currently in week 3 of the Max-OT program, I'll doubtless post more questions than answers, but if I can get a chance to give back, I'll do so eagerly.

Welcome to DB JayBee!

I think you're gonna love Max-OT. It will help you stick with the basics. It will help you stay less in the gym and avoid overtraining.

More importantly then your gym time is your meal times. If you can get that squared away, you'll notice some vast improvements. And that can be done all the time.

If you are committed to making a change, the first thing to do is figure out your eating habits and goals. Make adjustments. Then do the same with the training.

Anyway, back to me. I'm a Microsoft qualified SQL programmer

Could have used you big time about a week ago when the forum was lost. Tables were assigned ownership along with stored procedures. Had to go thru and change it all by hand and then change permissions. Nasty stuff. Not fun. Took extra to figure out what the deal was. Glad to have you on-board!

If you have questions, feel free to post them. There are plenty of people around with good experience. I hope you print out the Max-OT guide and follow the Burn the Fat review. That is one heck of a good book so far about the fundamentals of nutrition.

Hope to see you around!
