Hey everybody! I am totally new to weightlifting and body building. I just have some newbie questions that I'm curious about. First, some kids in high school (I attend high school) have veins kind of popping out of their forarms, wrists, and back of hands. How much of this is genetic, like how you were born, and how much is lifting related? Also, I have a few on my hands and wrists, they're kind of bluish purple, but mostly flesh covered. I noticed that sometimes when I have my hands hanging down when I'm sitting, or laying down on my bed letting my hands hang off, that the veins become more present, and there are many of them, and they start to run up my forearm. What's up with that? And second, what excersised should I do to strenghen my forearms and my calves? My forarms are kind of skinny and weak, and my calves are a little fatty. Thanks for all of your help! And sorry if this has been asked before.

wow, i thought i replied to this post, well anyways. forearms kinda come with weight training with gripping heavy weights and whatnot. what i do is: stand upright, arms down, using a curl bar with a good amount of weight enough to do about 3 sets of 10.. just let the foreams pull upward(with hands facing outward) and u will feel the burn..OR grab say a 30-40 pound dumbell and let your wrist hang over a flat bench and just kinda CURL the weight only with your forearm...MAKE sense??? and veins are just JUNK...i dont have any and i can pump out some weight, my friend on the other hand, has TONS of veins and cant do but about half of what i do.....good luck

For the first exercise a good variation I like is to hold the weight behind my back w/ my wrists facing out then curling it upward as far as I can (moving my wrists only). I use as heavy as a weight I can and still do a full rep and about three sets of 4-6 reps. If the second exercise hurts your wrists your not alone.
