Hi all

While not a complete novice to lifting, I've only really lifted in the past under team conditioning situations and with a partner. I find myself a bit lost as I try to return to gym solo to get back into shape without an ex-drill sargeant in my face yelling at me to do more.

Quick low down, I'm 33 y/y, 6' 240 or so, my build is generally decent, but I have that midsection from many more years of dealing with my fraternity than my sport. I'm kinda fortunate that I don't have to suck my gut in much, but I don't like being 240 looking the way I do.

So, my longterm goal, get down to about 210 or 215 (I have a med-large build), lean up some, get some functional strength and endurace because I want to play Lacrosse again. I'm also under care for a mood disorder and weightlifting / bodybuilding came higher recommeded (read the doctor is an ex lifted and ordered me to. <g>) as another method to help with that.

So, I really am asking for suggestions or resoureces, heck even a routine type thing to get me started on that path. I'd be very grateful for any help I can get.

This is a great site and thanks in advace.

I would say the first step is your diet. You'll be surprise the changes in your mood with a properly balanced diet.

Write down what you eat with servings, fats, carbs, fiber, sugar and protein.

My website has a nutrition journal and it will automatically calculate your intake percentages.
Once you have everything entered, you will see where you need to balance. Most people dont get enough protein or fiber and have way too much bad fats and sugary carbs.
