New to forum - Sunday, March 19, 2006 6:38 AM ( #1 )
I wanted to introduce myself to this forum. I have been bodybuilding for almost thirty years. I am pleased with most of what I have gained from my years of training. Eighteen months ago I had to change my "supplements" due to high liver values. At the time, I was planning on taking 6 to 8 months off, and start again. I continued to train. My strength went way down and I lost about 20 pounds. I started trying legal supplements, paying better attention to my diet and getting plenty of rest. To my surprise, my strength began to rise and I gained my weight back. I since have decided to stay with this approach. I am pleased with my workouts. I am still educating myself on the products that work and the ones that don't.

I look forward to learning the proper way to build muscle naturally. I am glad I have found this forum and hope to get to know some of you.

No Quarter
Thanks for the welcome! I will get some pics up. I am 5'11", 262 (this morning!) I am in a bulking phase and carrying a bit of extra fat. I usually start cutting up in April.

Hey Intense;

Welcome to the board.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions, there’s a lot of good advice here. Good luck.

Peace

Thanks jram. This seems like a great board. I am reading everything and hopefully will become educated.

Just wanted to offer a greeting. I am also new to the board and it's good to see other "old farts" banging back the years. What are some of the methods/theories you've used over the years? I cycle Powerlifting techniques, Volume Training and a blend of Abbreviated Training and HIT throughout the year.

oldfart,
Thanks for the greeting! I have tried just about all the training methods I have ever ran across. I gained most of my raw size from power-lifting training. I was a big follower of Mike Mentzer's program for a while. Injuries have limited my ability to go extremely heavy now. I have had quality muscle gains on various volume training techniques. I feel that mixing it up helps keep my workouts fresh, and keeps my muscles from adapting. I am currently using super/giant sets. Moderate weight and reps, with very little rest between sets. My size remains good, but my strength is harder to maintain. I think a lot of us "old" guys, who do this for years, develop an instinct to what we need to be doing. I don't really count how many sets I do, I just know when I am done! My workout partners are at least 15 years younger than me, but I keep up pretty well.

It is certainly good to see another "seasoned warrior" here on this board. I left my other board, as it mainly focused on what chemicals were best stacked together and how to obtain those chemicals. I look forward to exchanging ideas and experiences with you.

With respect,

Intense
