RE: New Bench Press Video 350lbs (15y/o, 170lb b/w) - Friday, May 04, 2007 2:07 PM ( #31 )
Hey.. thanks for the compliments guys.  I have something here that you might find kind of funny actually.  I posted up that video that I just linked you guys to on youtube.. and I got so many negative responses and people calling bs and a bunch of other stuff.. like.. no way.. that is so fake.. look how easily he slides the bar left and right, those plates are fake and don't weigh anything.. that is a world record shattering lift.. we caught you bum.  Haha.. I thought that was pretty funny.  So in order to shut them down, I posted up and made a whole new video of me weighing out each weight individually.  I just had to shut them up because they were getting really annoying and starting to piss me off.  You can check out all of those comments on the video to see what I mean.  Here is the link to the new video I made so you can check that out:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjLUpGZUn00.  Let me know what you guys think about that.

Hell yeah man, way to throw it in those dip****s faces. I couldn't even lift that off the rack.

How often are you training a week and is that all that you're doing, bench?

I've said it already but I'll say it again. Amazing work, I'm blown away.

"The bar didn't bend."
"Nobody can move 350 with a flick of the wrist."

Right.  Those were styrofoam replica weights, and he edited the video to have perfectly-keyed clanging iron sound effects.  Jesus Christ.

I'll never understand the rush to second-guess everything.

Impressive lift, Toby.  Very impressive.  That said, get a damned spotter before you hurt yourself.

you realize he set a world record for his height weight and age?...  Most highschool records for close to that particular weight is only 275 - 300lbs.   I can't find **** that shows any other 15 year olds doing almost 400lbs. **** I can't even find 16 - 17 year olds.   I know another record was 350 at 165lbs but the dude was in his early 20's and he wa s very short "shorter range of motion"

I am telling you kid! you need to compete !  you need to find something tell the coach at school.. Do something!  I want to see your name in the record book. But first I would try to make it to 405lbs and it looks like your damn near there.

Very nice. It's a clean rep for a powerlifter. The people on here telling you it's not are thinking of a body building bench rep, where you have to keep your *ss on the bench.

If you are 5'10" 170 at 15 you are going to be a massive guy. I hope you're channeling that into some kind of sport so you can win some scholarships for college.

this is pretty impressive i was wondering though. do you bounce the bar alot when you bench because you had a sternum injury the last time you posted abench video too and this same thing happened to my uncle with reoccuring sternum injuries due to benching so if your bouncing alot try using dumbells for a few months and then go back to barbell. but im 15 and you can bench about 100 more pounds than me so good job.

bench 265
squat 395
clean 255

first of all congrats on moving from 350-370
second of all i agree with ibb stopping at 90 degrees during a rep does make it much harder because you dont have the momentum to just throw it back up
keep working you genetic beast i wish i could break the 200 mark

That's really impressive man.  I'm 18 and only do 295x2.  Keep at it, you'll definantly get some scholarships if you play sports.

I think the reason the bar didn't flex a lot is because he uses a wide grip.

How's your lifts coming along Turbo?

And did you go to that comp you were talking about on April 28th?

Alright everyone, some of you probably remember me from the other bench thread, but I thought I would fill some of you in on some of my recent progress.  About a month ago, I injured my sternum working out and I have been taking it easy and healing since then.  Before that time, I was maxing out on the bench at a dead even 400lbs.. but I am down a good bit since then.  The video I took today is about where I am at right now, at 350lbs.  I am hoping to get back into and get the bench up to where it needs to be.  That weight wasn't too hard for me as you will see in the video.. so I think I could of got 10 or more pounds out of it, but I just kept it at that for now.  Regardless, it is still a real good bench for being 15 and weighing a 170lbs... I just thought that some of you would be interested in this, since it is of a lot better quality and just overall better.  This might be in the wrong section, but I wasn't positive of where to put it since the categories are kind of weird, but I think it is fine here.  Here is the video and let me know what you guys think:

350 at 15 and  is 20lbs more than the USA Powerlifting world record in the 181lb class. And 100lbs more than the 181lb 15 year old Raw Powerlifting record.

If you are really 15 and only 170lbs and that was really 350, you are the strongest 15 year old in the world.

puts me to shame...... I don't even know if I can squat or deadlift that much as I've never done that much weight.

That really is an insane lift - when I was 15 I could just about do 100 lbs!

That is quite incredible - you Americans really have something weird going on over there.

I'm 21 and I can barely use my whole body to deadlift that much.

It looks real to me, since he shows signs of wrong form such as picking his ass waaaay off the bench.

I thought it was dangerous to arch your back when you bench especially with that much weight.

Not being funny but the bloke looks like he is a relatively normal build as well - insane stuff.

I know size doesn't mean strength but I was expecting a fatty to lift that much.

I think it's a real video.  I mean, you can see the bar bending, the metal smacking, and see his strain...

I also think that he is the most physically developed 15 year old I've ever seen.  I'm 19, and still can't grow sideburns as thick as his, lol.  He could pass as a 20 year old, lol.Early bloomer.  Still impressive... I mean more than twice the body weight at any size/weight/age, dang!

Yeah, the only worrying point is why havent we heard of him breaking any records yet?

I mean i cant deny hes lifting them weights-he certainly is.

But what if he IS 20?
and not looking 20?

Im not saying im doubting him, im just saying theres no proof hes 15, and hes breaking world records here, like jeff said hes the STRONGEST IN THE WORLD, yet no news? nothing.

just seems strange

If i found out i had a worldbreaking lift id be in touch with guiness world records before you could say "holy ****"
I see guys posting world record lifts every week, I have yet to see one who has gone to a contest and actually set one.

The strongest  teen I ever met benched 290lbs raw at 142lbs and was 17 and 100% natural, he also dead lifted about 500lbs...all lifts done in a power lifting contest and documented.
If you can bench press more than you can squat you should be ashamed.

Don't listen to people like Odw, people will always question your strength, but I don't think you would waste your time making a fake video.. (but then again, you did put it on here to be talked about and critiqued ha)  Great lift, but I'm not sure how tall you are, but with that frame you gotta be 175 pushin' 180..

today's new bars don't bent like the old one's use to..
I think the older bars would start bending with anything over 300lbs but the new one's hold form..

but I agree with other poster.. pressing that much weight by yourself without a spotter isn't very smart.. anything could happen...

ORIGINAL: odw777

Looks fishy to me.
He shifts the weight on the rack too easilly, I don't see even a hint of bend in the bar.

I see build guys at 265+ that can't shift 350 so easilly. Just saying.

There is never enough time to do everything, but there is always enough time to do the most important thing

I couldn't tell in the video, but did those weights have numbers on them, because to me it looks like two 25s, 10 and 5 on each side or something like that. That would put it in the low 200s, which is still really good for a 15 year old. Can you just post a pic of the weights so we can see the numbers please? Thanks!
