My trainer has me doing something he likes to call negatives or negative resistance training. He has me slow down the returns on each rep to a crawl and then on the last rep, hold it until I can't hold it any longer. I am getting really good results from it. I find that my muscles feel like they got more of a workout from that rather than trying to go heavy every time. Does anyone else use this technique?

I do sometimes, it's pretty painful, but yes, it does get good results.

Yeah i do them sometimes as well. Either it will be on the last rep or i will do a set of 5 or 6 with as much weight as i can do in that rep range as negatives.

I've done it where you go dead slow on both motions. It is tough and you can feel it the next day. I don't do it often but find it a good way to give your body a surprise workout.
