I am 28, 6'5" weight 230lbs. my stomach currnetly is bulging i would like to lose the fat there without loosing weight on the rest of my body. My arms and legs are a good size. I have been reading the boards and i have commit to keep away from fried foods and sodas. Whatelse can i do to lose the fat on my stomach? If i jog or run, will that burn fat overall or just on my stomach? I will keep reading, but any suggestions will help. Thanks

running and most any exercises take fat off ur stomach but fat goes to your stomach first and therefore it if the last to come off so make sure u do cardio [running, swimming, biking, etc.] o and welcome to db

are there any recommended suppliments to take that will aid in "melting" the fat faster? Cardio is not a problem, but i can only job about once a week, busy working. I jog about 2 miles, but not sure if thats enough. Would lifting weights help lose the fat on my stomach? or will it just give definition?

You won't see any definition in your tummy until the fat layer is gone. Fat comes off the body as a whole. I can't think of anyway to lose fat in any one particular area.

hate to say it but spot reduction is not possible. There is no magic pill that will help, or anything else. There is only one way, eat healthy, cardio, and lifting. The best ways to burn fat as a whole is, 30-45mins of cardio in your target heart range (somewhere around 180ish BPM, depending on your health), eating healthy foods (no sat fat, excess sugars, processed items... you need protein, some carbs, and pleanty of water!), and a solid workout routine that includes your whole body. If you follow those three things you will notice your bf% will start to drop!

Thanks for the info guys. I was reading about the Hydroxycut, it says it will help my craving for food, and burn stored fat faster. Do you all recommend that? Does it really work?

I could be wrong but the main ingredient in that is green tea exctract or EGCG. Save yourself the money and eat right, implement cardio and drink a little greentea if you wont. No OTC pill will actually help that much.

I don't suggest you buy any supplements atm. You need to set a solid foundation with your diet, eating 5-6 small meals a day. Here's an excellent article to start you off http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/m_111175/mpage_1/tm.htm

I've used Hydroxycut - and as everyone has said - there is no "pill" that can do it. The one thing I have used Hydroxycut for - and others like it - was for the energy boost. Due to my schedule & life (2 kids..need I explain more?) its hard to get enough sleep. That xtra boost that Hydroxycut brings - really helps me on days I just don't feel like working out. Just my 2 cents - no refunds....

I would recomend cardio more than once a week if you are seriously trying to lose weight. I would make sure your meals are all balanced and you know how many calories you need to consume per day to lose weight. You can lose 10lbs in a month, but its not going to be healthy and easy for you to gain back.

yep, that's a big one, i also recommend cardio more that once a week, i do cardio almost everyday and i eat a lot (as healthy as poss.) to compensate my caloric needs, so cardio helps keeping my gains in weight lean.

You can't lose fat just on your stomach, it comes off in proportion with the rest of your body. There has however been some debate on doing repeated excess in one area burning more fat in that area because the muscles heat up from all the lactic acid (1000 crunches in a row at a fast pace, etc). I only read that once and I'm not sure on it's accuracy. However the best thing for you to do would be to lift and then do 10 minutes of warm up cardio, then 15-20 minutes of intense cardio, and then 10 minutes of cool down. I'm not trying to offend you at all, but at your weight you're better off using an Elyptical (sp?) machine instead of running, the amount of stress put on your bones won't be good, at all.

Follow nilvehs5's reply as this is the best possible method to burn fat and look better. I tried this combined with Hydroxycut (as mentioned) and got down to 8% bodyfat, without Hydroxycut I had slow results and struggled to come under 10%. Give it a try, my advice wear black, because your going to look like you just jumped in the swimming pool after your cardio workouts.

I'm not sure the nutrition facts on SubWay tuna subs, but I would guess that its best to avoid them. Their tuna is a tuna salad type meat I'm pretty sure, which means its loaded with mayo and fat. I've been going to SubWay every day (roasted chicken), but I think I am going to cut that out. SubWay does not have a whole wheat bread (their wheat is not whole wheat) for some reason. If you make your own tuna sandwhiches do it on whole wheat bread. I use miracle whip light on mine which has very few calories.
