Need help for a routine - Wednesday, April 25, 2007 5:32 PM ( #1 )
Need help with a strength and mass gainer routine. Im 6 ft 1 and 182 lbs and want to get squat, deadlift, and bench press max up. I aslo want to be just a massive guy so that when i get to be a senior ill just be huge. Im 14 and a half now, but i nailed the form down so i think i should be ok, and besides, im 6 ft, who cares if i stunt my growth lol just kidding. Ill have my dad help me cuz he did it when he was a young man, But please direct me to were i can find a good mass gainer and strength gainer. By the way, whats a reasonable amount of weight increase in a months time on max bench press for example?

well training for strength and training for muscle are 2 different things. for strength u could try bill starrs 5x5 or Max-ot. for muscle size there are tons of routines..try this link to find something u like http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/Routines_Routines_and_more_Routines_compiled_by_ice_mach/m_205828/tm.htm

Any kind of lifting is initially going to increase size, lower rep sets aren't ideal for building mass but more strength. You can find a medium of 5-8 reps and you will increase in both strength and size.

ok so what about this bill starr 5x5 routine. would this get me bigger AND stronger all around? http://www.geocities.com/elitemadcow1/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm
Is there something better than this, then what? PS if i do try to do this routine how do i increase it by 2.5% as in, 135 for monday, then friday 138.75?? im confused on that part. if thats how it works then how do i put that amt of weight on if the lowest plate my local gym has is 2.5...??

u can get bigger and stronger but itll go faster with one goal. i just finished bill starrs 5x5 and got ok results. i have a journal of everything in my signature so u can read that if u want. it wasnt great but it was ok, i put on 5lb. of muscle and my lifts on average went up pretty well

I'd probably suggest not to that routine due to the fact that you are new to weight training, and due to its intensity. It's best to do some full body workouts for a few weeks to get your body accustomed to the weight training (12-15 reps), then gradually lower the reps as desired to let your joints get stronger etc. I'd probably suggest after doing some full body workouts for a few weeks to focus on a basic push-pull-leg routine focusing on mainly compound exercises.
