Need Experience Here - Tuesday, October 06, 2009 12:12 PM ( #1 )
So this is like my 8th month of working out. I have bulked from 50kgs to 70kgs without any supplements and I think that I would have done better with supplements. I want to ask you guys what would be an ideal supplement to continue my lifting with to bulk up. And another question is, does it really matter if you lift in a gym or lift in your home... please comment :)

All that matter is how hard you eat and how hard you lift. The "Where" to that doesn't matter but you do need progressive overload. Can you get that at home or out and about? Great. If you can't then do everything you can to get a membership and make it prioity #1.

Why use any supps? You look great as it is. Fish oil and multivitamins are all I would really recommend and I dont think those really have anything to do with muscle growth. Save your money because whey will take a toll on your bank account.

Dude if your that serious..get yourself a decent Whey Protein, Glucose Tablet, Fish Oil, Multi, L-Glutamine and some Beef Liver Tablets oh and some creatine. All that should cost you around $90US and would last around a month.

Whey- morning (optional if you eat a good breakfast), Post workout
Creatine- 5-10g pre or post workout.
Fish oil- whenever you like, I take mine at night though.
Multivitamin- I like to take mine at breakfast

as far as brands go:

Whey: any decent 100% Whey ( I like ON 100% Whey, or GNC 100% whey if on sale)
Creatine: any cheap creatine monohydrate powder not capsules
Fish oil: any quality brand that says "pharmaceutical grade and molecularly distilled"- to avoid mercury, and other chemicals
Multivitamin: Animal Pak (if you can handle lots of large pills), ON optimen. I try to go for non synthetically produced.

It depends on what kind of equipment you have, and what your goals are.

I lift at home, and have for my entire training (4 years now).

I can say absolutely, with out question I would have at least 50lbs on my major  maxes. I can not back squat because I lack the rack.

However I have made good progress, and I continue to progress, even though it's slower than it should be. I utilize oly or partial oly lifts, and I front and overhead  squat, instead of back squats.

It is really doable to train exclusively at home, and it may be logistically more convenient, but you will ahve to work hard at devising challenging routines, and when you stall, it becomes more difficult to break plateaus, becasue you may not have the equiptment available, to work partials, or solid assistance exercises.
