Need Advice on Gaining Weight!!! - Wednesday, January 31, 2007 8:55 AM ( #1 )
Hey! I just joined cause I heard there was some good advice on this website. I need some help gaining weight! I know it sounds crazy but I am underweight and I want to gain about 10 pounds. I am currently 5'4 and 95 pounds. I also am pretty sure I have a really low body fat percentage. Definitly below the reccomended percentage for my height and age. I would like to get bigger arms, and thicker legs through muscle building, which will also add weight. I'm very athletic, I compete in track and feild, as well as race formula karts competively.

It is not an issue of not eating enough food, because I eat out probably 3-4 times a week at McDonalds and other fast food restaurants. As well as eating 4 meals a day, with relatively sized portions. Any advice you can offer on building muscle and weight would be appreciated! I'll posts some pictures soon. Thanks!

Eating at McD's will ruin any results that would be obtained by working out, so if you are going to cut that back...alot, then try weight training.  Start light and learn proper technique.  Eat 6 meals a day that consist of good fats, complex carbs and clean protein.  Most people don't eat nearly enough protein, as we are a carbohydrate society.
Try to get at least 1g/pound of bodyweight you are trying to achieve.  Use a calorie calculator to find you metabolic usage, and up the clean calories by at least 500 per day to add weight.

Thanks for the awesome advice I will continue to up my calories by about 500 a day.
