NROL H-2 modifications
-
Sunday, July 13, 2008 8:51 PM
i sent something similar to brihead but i'm looking for overall opinions i'm definitely going to modify it but i dont know how. i might do add in some squats. but i was thinking of adding in another another low volume leg workout for 4 total days a week. or i could make it a 6 day cycle instead of 7 but in that case im working upper body every 3 days instead of 4 then 3. i like the 4 days a week thing because im probably going to be eating more junk and more in general the next month so working out more (with a reasonable amount which this is) would probably help make more of whats gained muscle. what do you think? this is the original routine Day 1: Horizonal Push Pull A1.BB reverse grip row A2.Barbell bench B1.wide grip cable row B2.Dumbell incline bench C1. Dips Day 2: Legs A1. Snatch grip DL B1. Dynamic Lunge B2. Step up C1. Reverse crunch Day 3: Vertical Push Pull A1. Close grip chins A2. Barbell shoulder press B1. Wide grip lat pulldown B2. Chek Press C1. Barbell curls thats the outline of it. there are 4 different rep ranges he uses for each workout. 2x25, 3x12, 5x6, 6x3 all alternated through the workouts so by the end of 8 weeks each is done twice. 2x25 gets 30sec. rest, 3x12 gets 60sec. rest, 5x6 and 6x3 get 90sec. rest

ORIGINAL: Jane I thought you were doing something else I did not know you were still doing NROL yea've ive been doing it for awhile. about 15 weeks actually but just started the hypertrophy routines 6 weeks ago. I'm starting H-2 on thursday. I think i'm going to have it like this DAY 1 horizontal push/pull DAY 2 lower body quads dominant DAY 3 OFF DAY 4 vertical push/pull DAY 5 OFF/abs DAY 6 lower body hamstrings/hips dominant + calves DAY 7 OFF so i would have to come up with another leg day.

That sounds like a good idea with the 4 different days you have, but why don't you try working out every other day instead of 2 on, 1 off, 1 on, 1 off, etc... Try doing: horizantal push/pull off quad dominant off vertical push/pull off hamstring dominant off I personally like a day of rest after each lifting day for recovery. You'd be doing working out m, w, f, sun one week, then tues, thurs, sat, mon the next week... I do agree that H-2 has low volume for legs compared to the upperbody workouts, so adding a 2nd leg day seems like a good idea to me.
Squats are better than steroids

thats not a bad idea but then i'd be finishing on a random day since it would be an 8 day rotation. i mean theres nothing wrong with that, i just wouldnt be consistently doing the same days each week. the way i have it set up is the same way (as far as days per week) as h-1 so i dont think it would be too much of a problem but i'll consider what you said.
