NECK EXERCISES PLEAS !!! - Saturday, May 06, 2006 9:10 PM ( #1 )
i'm gonna start wrestling in 2 years...

my neck is okay but
I really need a strong neck and add muscle(not traps,I allready train traps and have huge traps and I allready know it's good for the neck)

can anybody give me neck exercises pleas !
at least 3 exercises pleas !


is holding your body wait with the back of your head on a wall with a incline position is good ? or it's better to hold your bodyweight with the top of your head on a wall with an incline position(I mean the body is incline)

hope u understand what I mean !

You should do neck bridges- They'll have you doing them in wrestling anyway, and they're great for building up the neck. Lay on your stomach, and, using your feet and head as points of contact, raise your ass in the air. You can use your hands to help balance, just try to have your head handle most of the bodyweight. Shift your body left and right, forward and back a little, and have your neck take up the work. Do the same sort of thing when lying on your back- lifting your hips off the ground with your feet planted, use the back of your head to support your upper body weight, shoulders off the floor.
I take Judo classes, and we do these all the time- They work great.

I'm totally with CPL with this one.  What CPL does, I call inverse bridges.  This is how i bridge



Start off slow.  Maybe use a swiss ball to get your back used to the arch and to build strength in your neck.  After a couple of weeks, move on to lifting your pelvis up and supporting your neck with your hands palm down near your head.  When you can handle doing the supported bridge for 5 minutes try this one.  The key is to get as much arch in your back as possible so your forehead will touch the ground. 

This is used to be a key to my training but I don't practice martial arts anymore and my neck and traps are fairly big.

Now I just tilt my head to the right, add resistance with my right and try to make my head straight.

have someone put you into a "full nelson". They should use their hands to push your head down(their hands should be on the crown of your head...not your neck for this). You then just have to simply raise your head. If they are giving decent resistance, 3x15 should have your neck growing in no time.
