Howdy! I am an avid lifter and know what it takes to build muscle and gain strength. But I do not have the best idea for what my sister should do to tone up her body. She is a little overweight and is just now starting on weightwatchers. but, with no real focus on excercise she is not going to tone or lose as much as she could. I do not care what she looks like cause she is my sister and I love her. But I know she cares and I would like to help her as much as i could. If u could tell me ur routines for toning and getting in better shape that would be really appreciated. Then i could pass it on to my sister. Also, remember she is just beginning so keep that in mind as well. thanks again.

The best thing you can do for your sister is to get her on a proper fat loss diet- I've never really seen a weight watchers program, but perhaps you could check her stats out on one of our calorie calculators near the top of the nutrition forum, and find out exactly how many calories she needs to be eating in order to lose weight- Forget toning, there's actually no such thing. The toned look is simply a combination of muscle gain and fat loss- For fat loss, nothing beats proper nutrition, and we can definitely help. Find out the number of calories like I said, then find out how many calories per day she's getting on weight watchers, and from what sources- If she's willing to share her nutritional intake with us, she can get some of our experienced advice on whether she should change anything up at all, or simply stick with the weight watchers. BTW- My sister's getting married in September!

On the weight watchers thing - even though i am not very experienced in the diet dept. i have recently gotten two of my friends of the plans :p Mainly because they were simply not eating enough. From one of the girls plans, she was taking in around 1000 calories a day, around 800 short of her recommended for weight loss. The other friend is a gymnast, and since starting uni she has gone from a UK size 8 to a UK size 12...which is a big jump according to my gf lol. She has just started weight watchers, and after taking one look at the plan denounced it lol. It split the meal intakes over 3 meals, brekkie, lunch and dinner, and didnt include enough carbs or fats... Being a gymnast, if she had stayed on that plan, she would have lost a great deal of muscle which would comporomise her sport, so i persuaded both my friends to have a look at the calorie calculators. Neitehr seemed to grasp the concept of losing body fat as opposed to weight. The problem with cutting calories down completely is that you go into survival mode etc. Anyway, have a gander at this page here if you haven't already, its been a great help to me! For all i know however this particualr weight watchers plan could be fine. I am a cynic when it comes to things like these however, especially after hanging out here for a month! Like cpl said, let us know some more info and the experts (not me lol) can take over!
