Well, let me give you some background info first. In April of '06 I was 5'7 180 pounds, and disgustingly fat. I got a home gym for my birthday (CrossFlex is the name). I knew little about working out so I used it just about every day and ran a mile a day. By September I was 120 pounds. I've been gaining knowledge about bodybuilding and working out and all things related since then, and using my home gym. Recently however I joined a gym with a buddy of mine and can use freeweights and machines (something was wrong with my homegym because I could curl 120 pounds on it..). Anyway that was about three weeks ago and I've started to see Acne pop up on my chest, bicep/tricep area, and my back. I went to my doctor and he told me that this was happening because the stimulation of working out hard was making my body create a much higher amount of testosterone. To be honest I think it's a load of crap, but I have been getting some real nice gains (in 3 weeks I went from 135 pounds to 142 and went down 1% in bodyfat). What I wanted to know was if anyone has had/heard of anything similar, and if this is a good thing or a bad thing.

It is no load of crap. Your increased workload puts the body into a crisis situation. The human body is made to efficiently store fat, not muscle, so when you are damaging the muscles and causing the body harm, it ramps up the hormones to rebuild and try to protect itself in case this damage was to happen again. Testosterone rises most efficiently with compound movements, such as, squats, deadlifts, push-ups, dips and chin-ups. This is a good sign, the acne, although it does not seem desirable, it is a sure sign that you are getting more out of your workout now.

The acne kinda blows but I'm sure in good time it'll be gone. My strength is also going up pretty significantly, and maybe I'll get a badass attitude, so I can really start putting the ass in badass.
