I just started bodybuilding and would like some opinions as to what i should do. I am 14, weigh 168 pounds, am 5'8. Everyday i get up and bench press for about half an hour. Then i deadlift for another half hour. Squat for half an hour. bike for an hour. and do pushups/situps for half an hour.
I am keeping my diet free of crap like chips and chocolate and only eating good and healthy food Smile. please give me any advice for beginners! Smile

wowSmile

doing all that stuff everyday for HALF AND HOUR?!?!Smile. Your gonna injure yourself man, be careful. Your muscles need rest too. If you really are working them for half and hour hard, you seriously need rest. You should be doing each muscle group once a week. yes you need that much resting done. resting your muscles and letting em recover is really important. We got to change up your program right away. If you got all those stuff at your house, you shouldnt have problem having a nicely organized program.

If your doing all that stuff everday, im guessing that your not a newb on those machines anymore, you know what your doing?? so if you think you are experienced enough, try going for Max-OT, many people have had great results from that program, I'm on it too, and its great.

Like 8pack said, go with the basics. More is not always better when it comes to building muscle- Keep up a routine like the one you outlined, and you'll have an injury in no time. Working one muscle group a day is the smart thing to do- Or, if you prefer, do two a day- But still try to work everything just once a week. Use the link 8pack gave you to the basics, and stick with that for a few months- Then try out Max OT.

Try getting a decent split you do not need to be doing 3 1/2 hours worth of excersises every day. Definetly consider a split like this-
Monday- Chest / Delts
Tuesday- Back / Abs
Wednesday- Legs
Thursday - Rest
Friday- Bis / Tris
Saturday - Traps / Calves
Sunday- Rest
You can also incorporate an extra rest day if you are not feeling up to excersising one of the days due to soreness. Learn to listen to what your body is telling you. If your body is tired let it rest. It takes apporixemetly 72 hours to recover a major bodypart such as Back, Chest, Or Legs. Good luck.
