My weight..?
-

( #1 )
Hi i'm currently 15 years old weighing 143 lbs, standing at 5"10, i've been lifting for around a year, and the weight doesnt seem to be going on, although increase in strength is very noticible. When i started i was benchpressing about 80lbs now im benching 176lbs. Iv gained very little weight. I'm wondering whether its because im still growing and havnt filled my shape properly yet, or is there something im doing wrong? i eat around 3000 calories everyday. i go to the gym with somebody who weighs around 160 lbs, and i am lifting the same as him, i even look a bigger build then him. what am i doing wrong? i want to weigh more. Please help me, does somebody out there have the same problem?

Weight is just a number, if you are gaining strength and you look bigger than someone who is 160 why worry? Also you are getting stronger because your cns and muscles are working better together hence the lack of weight increase but the increase in strength.

I agree...as long as your eating plenty of the right foods and are getting strength gains, why worry. At your age ...if you stick with it....you'll be making good gains for the next 3-5 years. Don't worry about what the scale says

OKay thankyou for your help, i just always seemed to ascociate gaining of weight with gaining of strength, i guess its good because i do a lot of boxing too, so in fights its an advantage to be quicker + stronger but keep a lighter weight. However, im giving up boxing soon. Cheers for the help though :)

It is basically impossible to gain weight more quickly than your body would naturally, in terms of muscle at that age. The only hormone making you grow is Growth Hormone, that is basically only making you taller, and stronger. Because, that is all it does, it does not make you bigger, which is the main reason so many professional athletes get away with it, because they get stronger, but no one can tell. Anyway, without testosterone, you will never get bigger. I am not telling you to take a test booster, just wait a year or two, and when your body starts producing more testosterone, you'll get huge, Fast. That is, if you keep lifting through it.

What proof do you have that you cant gain that much in six months? It is totally possible with good training and especially a good diet. Plus for a beginner who is still getting newb gains, 30 pounds is totally possible.

Not when he was 100lbs. to begin with. There is simply no way this could ever happen. Even with perfect training, perfect diet, and anabolic steroids, you would maybe come CLOSE to this.

First off I said I gained 30 lb. of mostly muscle probably 5-7 ish lb. of fat. But either way 30 lb. of muscle is definitly possible. You can gain 1 lb a week and 6 months is what around 25-26 weeks? Wow that's weird that math really add's up. I'm sure some people remember me around here back when I was 110 or atleast 120.. SS and eating above maintenence really helps. Wow the ignorant people on the forums these days..

I don't know what to say other than that never happened, especially to a THIRTEEN year old. your body is hardly producing testosterone if any at all. I don't care what you think happened. I just don't want people coming on here thinking that they can gain 30 pounds in 6 months. it's never going to happen, especially not to a 13 year old who weighs 100lbs. Anyone who reads that claim will know that it is simply ridiculous. Especially since you weren’t going through a growth spurt or anything (1/2 height in 6 months).

I weight 140 lb. dumb ****. How this **** is this ridiculous if you know what your doin then it is differently possible. Um 13 is definitly an age with alot of testosterone. Maybe you should listen to some people on the forum before giving advice. Don't even care if you believe me anymore, no reason for me to lie but whatever.

I have gained damn near 30 pounds in the span of half a year, sure it might not all have been muscle but 30 lbs is 30 lbs. Just because you can't does not mean it isn't possible. Also, test increases rapidly at the onset of puberty, you saying that he barely has testosterone is a very ignorant statement.

scales usually are pretty innacurate, except for those at the doctor. even those can be innacurate sometimes. If you look big and lift big thats all that matters.

Especially for someone like Connelly though, 13 is a great age for all that test to come flowing through your system, and when you start off at 100lbs, IT'S A LOT EASIER TO GAIN WEIGHT. 100-140lbs, though damn impressive, shouldn't come as a shock to anyone, 200-230lbs in 6 months would be a strange occurrance but not with these figures.
