My company was installing equipment in the new fitness center yesterday.

Why the thumbs down? It's all Cybex machines!!! I saw a few 45 lb plates, but no power rack or squat cage, and no barbell and no freeweight bench. The plates go on the machines. There is a dumbell rack and I saw some dumbells. I was SO looking forward to training there in addition to my regular gym. Now I am downcast. I ran into the guy who was in charge of outfitting the room. He said "hey Frank... see the fitness center? We're installing the equipment today... it's all primo equipment". I got all psyched and went in to see it. Yeah, OK. My last company had a small fitness center that had a squat cage, bench, barbell and freeweights in addition to machines. I guess they have to consider the widest audience and install equipment that would appeal to that audience.

I can't wait until i get my license. I can finally go to the gym instead of working out at home. anyways the guy I'll be going to is awesome. Rquet ball courts, basketball courts, cardio room with a track around it, swimming pool, saunas, lots of free weights, squat cages, whole room with those hammer strength machines, then a whole room with pulley machines, also a room for stretching. Though what the gym your talking about seems to be makeing a big mistake. Machines usually attract a high volume of those people that never actually go. having no free weights seems like it would stop serious lifters from going there at all.
If it wasn't painfully difficult then you didn't do it right age:18 5' 81/2" 173 lbs goal : 195 supplements: Multi, fish oil

There is a dumbell rack and I saw some dumbells. Yes you did. You just said so: They were the ones installing the Cybex machines. Plates for a circuit machine?? That's EFFING BLASPHEMY!!!

My only regret in owning a gym would be shelling out thousands for all those semi useful machines.

I go to school @ WVU and we got a pretty good setup though I wish we had more free weights. We have an elevated track, below that is a cardio room w/ about 50 different bikes etc and most pulleyed realted machines. Drop a floor theres wrestling rooms bball courts requetball courts all the free weights and some plate loading machines. Only thing that sucks is only 3 squat cages! Sometimes I gotta resort to the Smith for emm.

I forgot about this rant of mine! Actually it turns out that the fitness center is really pretty good. I've gotten a few decent workouts with the equipment. There is room for improvement, and it will never take the place of my regular gym, however.
