In terms of home gym systems that don’t break the bank – I’ve almost decided on Bodylastics. After researching online, I found that most people on forums swear by it. It seems to be pretty good. Even Terrell Owens used this system to develop his physique. Has anyone here used it?

I wouldn't waste my time with it, unless there is some type of previous injury preventing you from using free weights, they'll always be the optimal choice. Free weights are superior in resistance training.

Bodylastics will not allow you to continually progress in your exercises, which is a significant factor in muscle building.
5'8.1" Age = 20 started in February 16th 2007: 58kg (127.6lbs) current : around 79-80kg (173.8lb-176lb)

A home gym should consist of at least a rack you can do pull ups and dips and some free weights. I have some elastic bands that I play with occasionally and Im a fan, you can get some really crazy range of motion with them but I would never base a workout program around them.

The only thing I use elastic bands for are for Judo drills, punching, and kicking. They add a higher level of resistance in those movements, which increases power and speed.

I read the testimonials on the page. Im sure this system has its place. I can think of several uses in my own home gym, but only to suppliment what I do with freeweights. Some of the testimonials need to be taken with a grain of salt, and others seem legit. There are some that push the idea that the bands worked better than freeweights, but that would simply be a case of the person not doing the freeweight exercise correctly. Bottom line I think, if looking for a home gym, look at freeweights first. Think about what your goals are. Think about how many years you will be exercising and how often per week. Freeweights never wear out. This system will wear out and will need replacement. Freeweights can be left outside if there is not a room or shed to put them in. Keep them painted and covered when not in use. If I were looking for a system, I would choose freeweights first. If that was not possible, this system does look like a good system. I would spend my money on it if I could not get the freeweights. I might even buy this system first, start working out, get the freeweights later and use both systems for my workouts. I can see the benifits to this band system, and it looks well constructed, but the benifits may not outweigh those of the freeweight system. Just food for thought.
