Muscle Milk question - 7/20/2007 3:22:34 PM

I was looking into buying it, the stuff looks good. I mainly want it as something to take before bed, can it be used for this purpose? I was told that it is both whey/casein, and the directions say that you should take it before bed too.

My question is, can I use it as a protein to take before bed rather than taking it before and after my workouts??

I don't want to mislead you or anything but I think there are different types of muscle milk out there. The only casein powder I know of is Syntha-6 by BSN. Which is used by some members here. I'd recommend that and if you want to save a lot of money go to www.buildingbrawn.com It's usually 30-50% less expensive than GNC or local stores and the best place online to buy. I've had some muscle milk before and LOVED the taste which I don't think many products can beat.

Muscle Milk is a casein protein, and yes, it is good to take before bed.  Syntha-6 is a blend of different types of protein, and is also a slow-digesting protein.  Both taste amazing, IMO.

Trueplaya i actually use buildingbrawn.com to price match GNC! I printed out the stuff i wanted last time and brought it to GNC, and i paid that amount! But i understand what you guys are saying.

Toolman, so your saying both Syntha-6 and Muscle Milk are both casein proteins that I could take only before bed?

Well, you can take them anytime you like, but most prefer before bed, and they use a whey product before and/or after their workout.

Muscle Milk is a casein protein.

Syntha-6 actually has fast, medium, and slow releasing proteins in it...Its protein matrix consists of ultra-filtered whey protein concentrate, Micellar alpha and beta case-ins, micro-filtered WPI, egg albumen, calcium caseinate, and milk protein concentrate.

Both of them would make a good pre-bed shake.  Both have good flavors, so make sure to shop around and compare the price per serving of each before buying...

If you want a less fat, still loaded casein protein supplement, ON makes 100% Casein as well. No whey, all casein.

Hahah Trueplaya you're prob being sarcastic, but it was a good deal considering i payed $99.85 for SuperPump 250, Size-On, and a 5 lb. tub of ON Whey!

PearlJammer, I know what you're talking about my bro uses that stuff. Aren't the prices a little steep though for the 2 lb. tub of ON Casein??

I was thinking the same thing.  I really wouldn't have expected GNC to meet prices like that...  Do they charge for shipping? lol, but seriously do they?

Yea man they did it for me, one time a guy at GNC tried talking me into buying something and i said i could find it way cheaper online. He told me how the price matched, i printed the prices off buildingbrawn.com with shipping included (guy must've made a mistake, cuz i didnt have to pay for shipping!). Next thing i know, i paid less than $100 for supplements that would've totaled up to around $170-$180 with GNC prices.

So yea, it was a good idea. Just call and check to make sure they do it at the GNC you are looking to buy from.

That's cool.  I buy from a local store right now, but when I go back to college, I'll see if the GNC there will do that.

you have to go to the indepenedent gnc's to do the price matching. you can't go to the one in the mall, they wont do it cuz they are corporate or something like that. you have to do to the independent gncs. these are the stores that are like its own store. its not part of a bigger store like a mall, but rather its own thing. those guys will do the price matching and charge like 5 or 6 bucks for s&h. also... all the muscle milk flavors are super good...but syntha-6 strawberry tops all the flavors of muscle milk.

I am about to finish my 2lb tub, and I got it for 25 at Vitamin Shopppe cause I was in a hurry and needed it. That's the best price I've seen. Reason I bring it up is because some people, like myself, cant take the 18 grams of fat that comes with MM, and the ON Casein has maybe 0 or maybe 1 gram of fat. If you are an ectomorph however, MM is then deffinitely your choice between the two. If your a meso or endo, then you might consider ON.

Looks good to me, its a little cheaper here in the U.S. but they will jam you for shipping. Better off buying it in the UK..
