I constantly have the problem of muscle failure before I complete my set.For instance, Bench Press Routine
Set 1:12 repetitions
Set 2:10 repetitions
Set 3:8 repetitions
Set 4:6 repetitions 
Set 5:4 repetitions (repeat until muscle failure)

The problem is mainly on my fourth and fifth set my muscle fails half way through my repetitions. Should I decrease the amount of sets or the weight? Is this a proper routine?

I dont like pyramids...but I would in ur case to just lighten the weight.

The bad thing with pyramids is that if u start too heavy ur tired....if u start to light u feel like u didnt work hard enough.

So by the time u get to the heavy weight (which is suppose to make u big) u have barely any energy.

If ur trying to do some bodybuilding stuff...i wouldnt do this pyramid thing for too long.
