freakybig

I'm rookie to weight lifting in every sense.  I've been lifting for only a year and a half but have become all but obsessed with it.  I've got a question about the "freakybig" program.  A buddy of mine has fallen in love with it and purchased the $100 manual.  It sounds too good to be true which would lead me to believe that it is.  Granted the workouts are pretty intense (to my standards), but the entire metabolic, catobolic, anobolic thing seems almost impossible to achieve the way to describe it.  My question: is this program for real??
Thanks,
Drew
