The routine you are doing does'nt seem to resemble the one PureNatural layed out. Try to stick to the groupings of the exercises. I used to have a routine similar to yours but I have found that the method we are learning here encorperates the other body parts we are trying to work.

I'd suggest to rest in between each workout like how you have shown in your first example to give the entire body rest. But it is a good thing you've asked if not certain what to do.

Purenatural, did push yesterday and all I can say is WOW again. My tri-ceps by the end of the workout were feeling to tired. It was goodworkout though. And today my chest feels so sore along with my tri-ceps. On bench I manage to do 145 5x5, military press 60 5x5 and close-grip bench press 125 5x5. What do you think. Well natural just wanted to say thanks again, just my second workout of this routine and I feel like I'm already getting bigger, thanks.

danny,

k1ngofkings:

Hey what's up bud not problem, glad to hear you got good workout yesterday and feeling sore in right spots today. Keep up training, your doing good so far. As for your numbers on your first attempt, those are good numbers, be patient and your bench will be over 200 and military press 135 and your close grip bench will be nearly 200 as well, just keep working hard, rests, patience once again, and don't forget to eat each meal until your full.

Keep up the training,

Goodluck with it

Thanks Purenatural, what do you recommend for squats, should I go below 90 degrees with thighs parallel to floor or should I not?

k1ngofkings:

Don't go below 90 degrees, for safety reasons. Keep your feet shoulder width apart, use your heels, have toes slighty turn outwards, look straight or up, keep your back in neutral position and keep your back tight as well, and don't forget to put enough air in your belly.

Hope this help

Goodluck with your training!

One more question, sorry that I keep asking but I wanted to know what else are good ab exercises are there besides weighted crunches?

danny

k1ngofkings:

Hey sure not a problem bud, feel free to asks, towards abs, those ab exercises aren't just there to tone up and give you six pack, there good to do job as well, working on your core. Core work means all the little muscles and tendons that "support" your torso. Turkish Getups, weighted crunches, weighted leg raises, and sand bag lifts are one of the best core developers. Building strong core muscles will allow you to squat more, deadlift more, and overhead more.

That's why as well  you always need to deadlift. Keeping your posterior chain strong which will help you also with squats, overhead presses, and keep you free from injuries.
hope this help

Goodluck with your training.

PureNatural,
i thought soreness came from latic acid. So far i am at about 80 to 85% of my max when doing the exercises and never feel any soreness. Maybe i need more then just 3 exercises per workout in addition to adding more weight.  Not discouraged yet and plan to stick with this program for at leat 8 weeks before trying something else.

Hey what's up bud, lactic acid is only momentarily pumping blood into a muscle. Pumps or feeling sore during workouts is a big misconception to thinking your getting bigger. Don't use soreness as guide for muscle growth. Soreness as well that you feel next day or couple of days is no idication of muscle growth and has nothing to do with it. The only thing that gets you big is smart hard training, lots of rest and good diet. Adding more exercises then what is already provided is not a good idea. Once again patience is another key. Just keep adding weight every week and by 8-12 weeks you will see how difficult the exercises will be.

hope this help

Reaper:

Sure not problem bud. The only thing I would suggests is not doing cardio after leg day, it's taxing on legs. Other then that everything looks good.

hope this help

PureNatural,

i noticed that on the 3 day program there are deads on both the 1st and 3rd day. One is straight leg and the other i assume is bent leg. Why do deads twice in one week when all aother exercises are just once? What is a good substitute for one of the deads?

Straight leg deadlifts work the lower back and the hamstrings.
Squat 385, Bench 235, Deadlift 450 @ 181.

tanamerra :

Stiff leg deads work your hamstrings. That's why it's on leg day. You keep your legs slighty bent, and keep it strict throughout the whole movement. Your just going to be moving your torso up and down while your legs are slighty bent on strict position, you will feel stretch.

Sometimes on leg day when doing squats it isn't necessary to do your lasts 2 exercises when worked hard enough. I know some guys that just do squats on leg day because all there energy have been depeleted and everything has been taxed such as glutes, hams, calves lower back ect, later on when squating triple your body weight on 5x5 or 4x6 scheme you will realize wether you can make it to your next exercise or not.

Thanks Purenatural, what do you recommend for squats, should I go below 90 degrees with thighs parallel to floor or should I not?

I have found that I go as deep as possible, and thats either parallel if I am wide stanced or asstograss if its narrow stanced.

When I stop at parallel it tends to bother my knees.  Do whichever is comfortable.

Rock bottom squats tend to promote the most growth though.
Squat 385, Bench 235, Deadlift 450 @ 181.

Purenatural just wanted to asks are there any befenits towards the 3 day split routine and 2 day split routine. How would you compare the 2.

danny,

k1ngofkings:

- 2 day per week routines are fine, and are good for people with hectic schedules, some people find that they make good gains off only training two days a week. As for now I'm really busy, so  I frequently only workout twice a week.

That being said, I think a 3 days split is better for 2 reasons:

1. It's hard to work everything you want to work in just 2 workouts.

2. Legs really do deserve their own day. Squatting is so taxing that mixing it in with other major body parts means that you can't devote full effort to them.

hope this help

Goodluck with your training!
