Make your own Energy Bars


Ingredients (for 6 bars)

2 cooking apples diced, stewed until soft, & left to cool
175g (6oz) porridge oats
2 tsp cinnamon or mixed spice
4 egg whites
2 tbsp honey
50g (2oz) raisins
6 tbsp (90ml) skimmed milk

Preparation

Mix all ingredients together in a bowl
Spread the mixture out in a baking tin 9in by 6in
Bake at 200oC (400oF / Gas Mark 6) for 15-20 minutes
Leave to cool, cut into 6 bars, remove from tray with spatula
Chill overnight before use

185kcal, 6.2g protein, 37g carbs & 2.6g fat

i want more protein than that....i get free POWER bars free here.....the natural version of them......7 or 9 grams of protein and sumthin like 37 grams of carbs....and FREE yay

I added 3 scoops of whey protein to the mix, took out the eggs, and substituded the cinnamon with slim fast shake mix (have an over abundance of it from a family members old diet) and yoinked the apples because I need this to last a little longer w/o a fridge. I estimate them to have about 14 grams of protein each, bare minimum. Thanks for the idea.

EDIT: Added peanut butter too.
