Macro Ratios - Thursday, August 14, 2008 1:38 PM
How much does it really matter what the ratios are for bulking?  I know that I should eat b/w 1.5 to 2 times my bodyweight in protein but other than that, what do the other categories matter as long as I get the right amount of overall calories and sufficient fats?  Also, would it be better to keep consistent ratios for 4 months or would it be ok to vary it from day to day?

Excellent question.  I would suggest keeping the ratios about the same, but I don't really know.

This macronutrient and calorie counting stuff is A HUGE WASTE OF TIME .

You could squatting, sleeping, eating, or groping your girlfriend during the time while you are counting grams and calories.  All those things would be a much wiser use of time.

Just eating a lot of meat, eggs, milk, and other protien sources is FINE.  And that's exactly how I measure my protein.  I say, "okay, that looks like a big piece of steak - good enough."  Then I say, "hmm, carbs.  I need some of those too.  Okay, give me some potatos and veggies." I get enough fat from everything else I eat.

Ratios are pointless.  Counting calories is also pointless.  Standing on the scale is a perfect indicator of whether you are gaining weight or not.

These things are only important if you are running for Mr. Olympia or something.  If you are running for Mr. Olympia, then I apologize and you should continue doing what you are doing.

I'm not trying to be a d***.  I'm just trying to encourage people to stop worrying about such pointless things.

You will actually get BETTER results once you stop worrying about this intricate dieting information.

No proof of comparisons, sorry.

I just preach my training and dieting philosophies that work for me.  People can take it or leave it.  It doesn't matter to me.

i definitely dont agree with that, its like saying you arent gaining the size you want, go work out more, and we all know that isnt the case, your philosophy is skewed.

I have gotten much better results when I count what I eat.  It isn't as fun, but the results are sweet.

It matters for some more so than others... depending on how your body reacts to carbs and fats.. Your question is impossible to answer as no one here knows anything about your metabolism, how you train, or the diet you eat....

You have one answer.... Eat and lift..  If you want details, you'll more than likely have to give a bit more detail about yourself and training.

Sorry.. :(
