Just BB, Who doesn't ask the question of motivation? We all do! I've found that being passionate about something will help to fuel the desire to do it. That... And visualize yourself doing it. Think of getting up early, going running, the fresh air. Now this might sound lame but when you start to see yourself doing it, it's easier to do. Do you really want to get up early? I'm not a morning person when it comes to weight lifting. Now cardio I can do but hitting the weights early? Like 6am or so.. nope. I don't care what studies say, I'm not going to do it. Even if it's the best time for me to workout, I just don't feel up to it. And the best time is then, whatever time I can make for it. But in your case, I suggest you read up on cardio and find out why AM fat burn might be beneficial. Keep in mind, the studies that show AM fat burning to be better really don't show it be to all that great. In other words, as long as you engage in cardio at all and do it properly, AM or PM isn't going to make some earth shattering difference. If you want every advantage you can get... that's a different story. I just suggest reading and learning all you can. Sometimes the knowlege and finding a story that is like your own, is enough to just propell you to keep going and set the fire under yourself to do it. Once you are out of bed, you'll find it easier. In other words, the second the alarm goes off, get up! The longer you linger, the harder it will be to get moving. AM Fat Burn Even though morning cardio has been embraced by bodybuilders as a "tried and true" fat loss technique, there is definitely not a unanimous agreement about its effectiveness, especially in the scientific community.

ORIGINAL: Marc David Once you are out of bed, you'll find it easier. In other words, the second the alarm goes off, get up! This is the key right there. DO NOT lay in bed thinking about running, about ANYTHING. Just get up, brush your teeth, get ready to go and GO. Don't get in your bed at any time after you get up or you will find yourself more tired. Find a friend or family member to go running with. You will NOT want to dissapoint your friend and leave him hanging, or you can have him call you to make sure you are up. Now once you are up start running ASAP, the longer you stay around your house and think, the harder it is to get out. Are you planning on running the streets or treadmill or what? also, get plenty of sleep the night before because it is much easier to get up at 5 when u go to bed at 9 rather than 10 or 11. And dont feel discouraged that it is hard to do in the beginning.. it will become a habit and it will be easy for you to get up after a while. And just dont think so much about the pain in the *** it is to get up, but think about the results you are going to get, think of the hot chicks. That will get you up.

3-4 i would suggest for < 30 minutes, if you do too much more than that you will probably lose more muscle than you want.

I was thinking about this last night so I got up as early as is possible for me, 7:30 (bear with me, I'm an insomniac highschool student) and went for an approximately 1.2 mile brist walk. Nothing to write home about but after thirty minutes cooling down I don't feel any muscle fatigue. So I'm interested to know whether this is something I can do every morning before lifting in the afternoons. Thanks, Jim

I thought this was interesting. You probably don't want to follow the routine I have. I think if you are trying to bulk up then you don't want to run as much. I'm still not sure about that though. So here I go. I like to run. When I decided in my mind to run in the morning, it was hard to get going on that schedule. At first, I would just rather sleep during that time. On days that I do my legs I don't run as much. I'll just run in the afternoon and then do my weight routine around seven that evening and then I won't run in the morning. Except for the weekend, I get up and run 5 miles in the morning before I eat and go about the day. It doesn't take as long as it did when I first started. In the afternoon I'll then go and run 3 miles. On the weekend I'll maybe just do 5 miles on Saturday, but it's never guaranteed that I'll get a chance to run then. I have heard the argument about running effecting your muscle gain. Like I said, I'm not sure about that. I would never sacrifice running to find that out. I still bulk and make gains even with my running routine. Maybe I would have faster gains in upper body without all that running, maybe not. I just know that I don't have a big problem with not having gains with extended running. I always make sure I have plenty of water and food to fuel myself and burn off from the cardio. Whatever sounds good to you is probably the best workout for you.
