Lose The Back Pain Review - Friday, February 09, 2007 9:27 PM ( #1 )
Lose The Back Pain System

After viewing The Healthy Back Institute's Lose The Back Pain System, all I can say is that it's revolutionary in the treatment and curing of back pain and sciatica.  This team of doctors, physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists and personal trainers put together a completed package.

The system teaches you how to self-asses your specific conditions and how to correct it.  The corrective exercises and stretches are performed by the individuals as demonstrated in the 2 DVD's and Manual.  One of the neatest aspects of this self assesment is that
it takes away the guessing.

The very first step involves having someone take pictures of your posture in several different specified positions and angles.  This is used in determining which stretches and exercises should be performed to CORRECT the problem.

That is the whole intention of this system; TO CORRECT.  Most back pain is caused by muscle imbalances which lead to compensation therefore pain.  The exercises and stretches that you will perform, are intended to correct those imbalances to get rid of your pain.

There are also two CD's which outline how to get the best results out of the system, strategies to reduce and manage your pain, and condition specific recommendations.

What most doctors recommend when you tell them you have back pain is to take addictive muscle relaxers and pain killers.  And in some cases surgery, which from most of the post-surgery patients I've seen, most haven't had relief.  Often times they just traded one problem for another.

Therefore, it is my recommendation that anyone with back pain or Sciatica try the Lose The Back Pain System by The Healthy Back Institute.  It is a natural way of correcting your condition andbecoming pain free.

RE: Lose The Back Pain Review - Friday, February 09, 2007 9:34 PM ( #2 )
Notes:

I've owned the 1st version of this and I "upgraded" when version 2 was released.  Version is great.  Totally re-designed, the videos are much better, more CDs.

Overall, I've not had a lot of major back pain but I am NOT flexible or limber.  Many times this affects my deadlifts and squats.  My lower back is stressed a lot when I do bent over barbell rows to the point where all I can feel is my lower back when I know I should be working my legs.

When I first thought about this program, I was pretty skeptical because I haven't suffered what I would consider "back pain."

In fact, I do have muscle imbalances and this program has litereally given me better squats, higher deadlifts and kept me functional.

The reason I was so keen to review it was because my wife suffers from sciatica and herniated discs.  I bought the program for her but I ended up watching the videos, doing the self-assessment and following the program.

My own issue was tight hamstrings.

I didn't know it would lead to mild back pain and affect my squats and movements but it did.

After using the program, it helped keep me more aware of muscle imblances and what I can do about it.

If you suffer from back pain and have tried everything, this is something you have to investigate.

I've know of Jesse Cannone for a LONG time.  While I've never spoken to him personally, I've always been impressed with his level of detail in regards to this problem.

Mark,

This sounds like an excellent product! I'm wondering if you're heard of/read/reviewed anything similar to this involving shoulder/elbow/wrist/knee pain (pretty much any other joint pain for that matter)? I've heard good things about Mike Robertson & Eric Cressey's "Inside Out" and "Magnificent Mobility" programs but I haven't come across anything else remotely similar as a point of comparison. I've found great information in the free articles they post on their site but I'm not sure I want to go out and get the package without knowing exactly what I can get out of it, or without hearing from others who have used it. I'm sure I'm developing some sort of shoulder problem which is most evident to me on the flat bench during benchpress. Obviously I want to correct this problem before I hear the ever-dreaded "pop" and I'm out for weeks. I would also like to gain a better understanding of the joints, common problems, and stretches/exercises which can be performed to prevent and treat them. If you, or anyone else have any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week.

I have not.

However, after doing some more of the stretches listed specifically for a high tipped pelvis and a high hip, I found my lower back was doing better in today's workout.

Exactly what I am looking for! I have sciatica and slipped discs and still want to workout!

Maybe there's still hope?

Thanks, Dedene

There is hope.

Give it a shot.  It's a great program, can be done at home.  Has the workbooks, CDs and DVD videos.

Even if you don't have back pain, it can be helpful in prevention.

Quick question on this system...

I am assuming that this program has you go through different exercises... how often do you have to do them and for how long?

Can these be done once a week and added into my current workout?

I am very interested in trying this and before I spend $100 I would like to make sure I know what I am getting.

Thanks!

It's a lot of stretching and back strengthening exercises that you can do multiple times a day.  You can add it to the end of your workout.  You can do them more than once a week.  The program I have comes with a DVD that shows you the exercises you'd do based upon which problem you have.  There's a self assessment part where you determine what might be the issue.

And then you do the exercises for that section.

It takes dedication to do any stretching routine but they are simple to learn and you can do them nearly anywhere and plug them into your workouts and then some.

The stretching routine and the exercises probably won't take more than 15 minutes to do.  Some are multiple times a day and others are a one time deal.

It's not a big time commitment per se.

RE: Lose The Back Pain Review - Saturday, February 09, 2008 9:51 AM ( #9 )
Hi I'm new to the forum. I found this site after searching Lose the Back Pain on Google. Thank god, people who Bodybuilds who can relate. I been having sciatica for a little over a month now. I recently got an MRI & they found out that I have a Herniated disc on my L5-S1. I also have a buldging disc on my L4 & L5 since 2003 from a motorcycle accident.
I been BodyBuilding on & off since HS. I'm 34, so you can imagine how hard for me to stay off the gym, even with an injury. I dropped the weights (pushing/pulling) to 50-70% since the injury, doing 30-50reps. Stopped leg exercise & deadlifts ( I love my DL's :( ). Add swimming almost everyday, stairmasters, sauna & steamroom.

So do you think this product will help my situation? Did it work for your wife, who's suffering similar injury as I do?
