Hey everyone. I'm 6'0" 177 lbs 10% body fat I've been out of the gym scene for a while and am looking to get back into it. I'm looking to shed some body fat in the beginning and then will be looking to put on some more muscle mass, but I don't want to lose any muscle in the beginning. I've been doing light cardio about 6 days a week - that's only due to playing basketball. Will this be enough cardio or should I do more or something different? Unfortunately I mainly do it on an empty stomach, but have heard that this may shed muscle as well? What I've been doing recently is start with light cardio workout, into a 30 minute weight lifting, then back for another light cardio. Should I be eating something bigger before hand? And what are some good foods to eat while trying to shed fat but at least maintain muscle. Sorry I'm so all over the place. Thanks for your input. Adam.

I'm looking to shed some body fat in the beginning and then will be looking to put on some more muscle mass, but I don't want to lose any muscle in the beginning. Pick a goal. Losing fat is a totally different diet and cardio regimine then building muscle. One is a calorie deficit. The other is a surplus. Chasing too goals is pretty much near impossible. If you want to get muscle at first, then go on a bulk. quote:

What I've been doing recently is start with light cardio workout, into a 30 minute weight lifting, then back for another light cardio. Too much. If you want to build muscle, you are doing way too much cardio. Light or not, too much energy expenditure. And splitting your cardio 8 hours apart is optimal if possible. quote:
Should I be eating something bigger before hand? And what are some good foods to eat while trying to shed fat but at least maintain muscle. Look in the Nutriton forum. There is a bulking diet.
