Hey, I'm just getting started back at the gym after a long lay-off. I'm looking for nutritional and training advice. I work out with my husband ...but....being the classic ectomorph....he's in a terminal bulking phase and eats everything and anything he can get his hands on. Also his training would be different from mine as he has different goals. I am currently weighing 149 at a height of 5'3" . Obviously I need to lose weight. I have been eating aprox. 4-5 times a day, lots of salad, tuna, chicken and beef as well as one serving of fruit. I do about 25 minutes of cardio (recumbant bike) everyday. my weight training is day1 chest triceps day2 shoulders day3 Legs day4 back biceps I also train abs 3 times a week Any advice you can give me towards my nutrition/training ..will be of great help. thanx Cathy

Move shoulders to day 1 and put a cardio day in between: Chest/Shoulders/Triceps Cardio Legs Cardio Back/Biceps Cardio rest rest Make sure you get your good fats throughout the day, and they should make up a third of your dietary calories. Your body will not burn fat if it feels that none is coming in. Try a ratio of 30 carbs to 40 protein to 30 fats (good).

ORIGINAL: optimumhealth Your body will not burn fat if it feels that none is coming in. Try a ratio of 30 carbs to 40 protein to 30 fats (good). Are you sure about this? I was under the impression that Dietary fat and Bodyfat were two different things altogether. Can dietary fat turn into bodyfat? I was told it was impossible. Point taken on keeping good fats in my diet Thanks for your help alot Cathy

Hi, I posted in your other post. Good fats are essential, Udos oil, almonds, olives and avacados, of course in moderation. Check out my jump start program I posted a few days ago, may help with some ideas. Also I check out your other similar thread for my cardio/weights comments. Linda

Thanks optimum. Udos is just my fave version of a great EFA, essential fatty acids. It has omegas and are all natural and vegan. I also don't mind the taste of it so I use it in my shakes, salads and on top foods....it is not to cook with. Linda
