What's up buddy.  I'm glad to see that you took the advice to give Rippetoe's program a shot.  I'm wondering why you are switching it up.

The reason I'm asking is because it's VERY common that people don't follow the program the way it's supposed to be followed.

Common mistakes people usually make:

1.) Not eating enough

2.) Starting out using weights that are too heavy, which would lead to a quick stall in progressin (the most important aspect of the program)

3.) Taking jumps that are too large, which would also lead to a quick stall

4.) Adding in unnecessary exercises, which would hinder recovery and could therefore lead to a quick stall in progress

5.) Not following the basic outline of the program (FULL squat every single workout, alternate between Bench and OH press every other workout, alternate between deadlifts and power cleans every other workout - increase weight by small amounts every single workout).

If you follow the program CORRECTLY (which is fairly uncommon believe it or not), you should be able to keep progressing in weight for 6 months to a year.

By the time you are squatting 315 lbs. for 3 x 5, and deadlifting up towards 400 lbs.  You will have gained a significant amount of muscle, lost a good amount of fat, and gained a serious amount of strength.

The truth is is that basic linear progression with heavy compound lifts including full squats every workout is one of the best ways to gain maximum amount of muscle in the shortest amount of time.

That's not to say that other programs will not work.  Many programs WILL work with 100% effort and dedication, but you have already started to work on an EXCELLENT training routine.  Why stop?

Is your goal to build a big, strong, muscular body or is it your goal to keep trying out new breakthough programs to keep things interesting, but most likely yielding sub-par results?

Just wondering

well.. IMO,  all of the bad memories would motivate me to lift MORE.  maybe it's the opposite of that in your case... but when stuff pisses me off, i tend to lift in a hardcore fashion

tommy boy i completely agree with u that some things work better then others for different people.

but why say F rippetoe and bill star. they have both changed the bodybuilding game and are two of the smartest bodybuilding related people out there. u make it sound as if u disagree with everything that they say

Nah, they are smart dudes and all but F them b/c who are they to say 'do this' and 'do that'? They are nothing to me. People need to start thinking on their own.
