Liquid or Raw Egg Whites? - Friday, June 05, 2009 10:43 AM ( #1 )
Do you know the difference between liquid and raw egg whites? The human body cannot completely and safely digest a raw egg white so if you like to do the “Rocky Routine” with a raw egg in your drink, you are wasting your time, not to mention the threat of Salmonella. In addition, Avidin, an enzyme found in raw egg whites, blocks the uptake of Vitamin B6 (Biotin) causing an unhealthy vitamin deficiency.
To avoid these two potentially dangerous problems, you must cook the egg white to eliminate the threat of Salmonella and to neutralize the Avidin in order to allow your body to safely digest the protein. However, When you cook an egg white to the point of scrambled eggs, 150 degrees or more, you begin to destroy the true value of the protein thus making it less effective.
Today you can find 100% pure liquid egg whites, low heat pasteurized. The pasteurization process cooks the egg whites at 134 degrees for 3 1/2 minutes. This proper temperature kills any salmonella (if present) and neutralizes the Avidin enzyme without damaging the protein which allows the egg whites to be digested safely by the human body.
So the liquid egg whites are “liquid” but not “raw” making them the purest and most versatile form of protein, known to man. They are odorless, tasteless, and mix easily into all your favorite shakes, drinks, or foods without cooking and are 100% Bio-Available.

Be sure to be within five seconds of a toilet on your first go, I found myself in the bathroom blasting out a volatile storm on my first liquid eggwhite shake. May have been eggwhites, or too much lactose, but I have not had a liquid eggwhite shake since then.

I would recommend waiting at least 30 minutes after a shake, one should know by then.

I crack 5 egg whites into my shake everymorning and have been doing it for over a year. Not once did I get sick (touch wood) and have put on 4kg in 9 months. (10lbs)

Everyones diffrent, but I don't see to much harm in eating them raw.

That may be so, but don't forget that the bioavailability of raw egg protein is very low, just over 50%.

Calling it "good" is an overstatement.
Actually, calling it an "article" is an overstatement.

There is actully no scientific proof taht eggs cause high colestrol. It is really a myth.

Seroiusly, athletes stomach up to 20 eggs a week and they are the fittest, strongest humans on this planet. IMO People who have problems with colestrol are the lard ass couch warmers who sit there and munch on eggs for breakfast and than go through the rest of the day eating junk and than blame the most healthiest thing in there diet when it comes to getting sick.

No point in eating egg whites.  And you can develop a biotin deficiency eating just egg whites because something in them takes the biotin out of your body but the yolk balances it out.

Fat is good and the fat in eggs is good fat as well.  Eat tha yolk.
