Lifting while sick
-
Monday, April 14, 2003 10:28 AM
The last few days i have been getting pretty sick. Headache, stuffy nose, real soar throat. I know i should be getting my rest, but i have been working out. When i go to the gym, i feel much better, all my symptoms go away. As soon as I get home they come back. Why is that? Should i just take a few days off? [:' (]

When I was training as a kid, I wouldn`t miss any workouts no matter what.My philosophy was a missed training session can never be made up.This isn`t just good dedication, it is foolish. When you workout it breaks down muscle tissue putting your body in a catabolic state, that is reversed to an anabolic state by eating and resting,The only thing you are doing by training sick, is further lowering your immune system ,resulting in no gains or even tissue and strength loss.Besides you are spreading contagious germs in the gym and other people are at a risk of getting sick also, not to mention a piss poor workout. You`re better off eating good and resting, letting your body fight off the infection.
