It's not "thermogenic" itself. By definition, a thermogenic is something that causes catecholamine release (the catecholamines are adrenalin and nor-adrenalin) to excite the adrenergic receptors (you have have heard of the alpha and beta receptors 1, 2 and 3). Tyrosine is a precursor to the catecholamines (as in, it's one conversion away from being nor/adrenalin). So taking tyrosine may result in a bit more mild stimulation, itself is not a thermogenic.
