I know exactly what kind of gym you are talking about, basically the kind I was looking into starting.  It really wouldn't be that expensive.  Do you think there would be a market for that kind of thing in bountiful though?

The supplement thing would be cool too, it would be easy to buy in massive bulk and create your own supplements, especially preworkout, huge mark up and I'm sure that would make some serious cash.  But combining selling supplements and a gym, basically the more ways you can make money the higher chance of success.  I have been meaning to do some financial analysis for a real gym, calculate as many costs and then determine how many members you would need and at what you would charge them to make a decent profit.

I imagine something small like this wouldn't be a huge money maker but I'm guessing in the right place it could be profitable.

Re:Kub's Journal - Wednesday, April 08, 2009 5:03 PM ( #282 )
wow, sounds like you've done more research on it than i have.  i've just been throwin around ideas and posibilities.  havnt done numbers or anything yet.

anyways i missed monday and tuesday because my son was in the hospital since sunday.  he fell off a power wheel while standing on it and got a skull fracture and a serious concusion.  he got out of the hospital today and is pretty much back to normal.  so today i did bench and deadlift.  i was at the gym for a couple hours.  would have been shorter, but ran into an old friend there and he just picked up on my workout and i think he is going to hate me tommarow LOL.

Deadlift- 5x10,8,8,5,3.

Assistance
Bent Over Rows- 4x8
Lat-Pull Downs- 4x8
Rack-Pulls-5x8,8,4,3

Threw a descent amount of weight around in the deadlift session.  was pretty awsome.  got above 4 plates on deads and 5 on the rack pulls.

Bench 5x10,8,8,3,3,3.  then one set of negatives of 3 reps

Assistance
SOHP 4x8
Side Lateral Raise 3x10
Incline DB Flys 3x10

gym was pretty crowded at this time. it sucked lol.  my deadlifts are getting back up there as well as my sohp.  bench is a little bit better than last week, but not where i want it.  i cant believe i only got 225 three times.  felt like a panzie for sure >.<  i'll get back up there though.  i am determined lol

Assistance day (not performed in order, did a pull/push type of thing)

Biceps
BW chinups 4x8;8;6;6
Standing BB Curls 4x10

Triceps
RGBP 5x8;8;7;4;4
RG tricep pulldown 3x10
WSBB DB tricep push 4x8 (increased a lot with the dbs from last week)
BW Dips 4x8

Forearms
Behind back bb curls 4x12
Pully Rotating Thingy Wingy 1x12 each arm (no clue what they called LOL. only did one set cuz didnt like them)

Next week i am going to start logging my lifts with wieght and what not.  mainly so i can keep track of progression plus im going to add the weight used for every set to see how much weight im throwin around during the whole session.  also when i get home i forget what and how many i did so i sit and stair at the computer tryin to remember LOL.

there is a bench press comp comin up on the 30th of this month.  i'm prob not gonna get as high as i was (315 for 1rm) by then, but its going to be motivation.  since its the military base putting it on i doubt its going to be broken up by age/weight.  would be fun though.

those average bands might be a little much for you, they are add around 230lbs at the top of a squat.  When you work with bands you want your plate weight to be more than the band tension.  So you'd have to be squatting in the 500's at least I'd say.  They could probably help for some ME dead lift work but I think you'd be better with the mini's or monster minis for benching

I have the light average bands purple ones, I did some reverse band squats 2 weeks ago with the green bands, made 405 move twice.  I am poor otherwise I would have nabbed a pair of both but for now I think the purple will work for my bench and squat.

i should have posted that.  for my birthday i think i want to get that deadlift platform for bands, unless i can devise a way to use bands will doing deads.  could do them in the squat rack.
