Knee Wraps

I am contemplating going pretty heavy with squats. I follow the MaxOT approach to weight training with excellent results. It' s been recommended to me that I should get a pair of knee wraps to increase my squat working weight. Can anyone offer some insight into the pros and cons of using wraps?

Pros: you will get more spring out of the bottom of the lift (be careful though, ' cause if you get addicted, then you may want to get a squat suit) Cons: They are incredibly inconvenient, since you shouldn' t wear them throughout the workout, because (and here' s con #2), they should be so tight that the circulation gets cut off. In other words, they will help for a few reps at super heavy weight, but then they' d better come off. So then, ya gotta re-wrap for the next set, which is tough. Do they have to be that tight? No, this is, of course, if you want them to be truly effective as a tool for increasing weight. If you just want to save the knees, they can be looser, but then they serve more as a reminder that your knees are there and you' d better be careful then an actual safety and assistance device.
