They do help with preventing knee injuries, but I would not recommend using them until you've reached 80-90% of you 1RM. The best kind to use is going to be based on the individual. Some like the ones that are really stiff and others like the ones that are less stiffer. I like the 2.5 meter knee wrap by Inzer.
