Kind of New, Yet No Results - Tuesday, January 29, 2008 1:13 AM ( #1 )
I'm a very competitive guy. Ive always been able to run with the big dogs in just about every activity I try, but i feel i could be much better then most if I worked at it. Im a fairly small guy. 5'7 165 pounds. I never really worked out up until the last three months. -- i apologize if i sound ****y/arrogant in this paragraph. I didnt know how to best word it

I started lifting in October, Doing arms-curls, pull ups, bench press and military press every monday and thursday, then your squats on tuesday and friday. My Max bench is 110, and i can curl 60 pounds. I really would like to double those numbers by say, June. Is that possible?

I would finish every workout with an 8 minute abs video and a protein shake and a banana. I have seen very minimal results. The numbers went up, from 90 pd. max to 110, and 50 pd curls to 60, but no physical differences. Im wondering if im doing something wrong.

Note: Im VERY new to this whole weight lifting concept. Any information you guys could give me would be great. Ive always envied my cousin- hes got the big arms, chest, forearms, everything! He's also slightly better then I with the ladies, but i think a big part of it is because of the physical body difference. So anything you guys can offer to me will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I start the morning with a protein shake and a banana.

I get home from work or college, lift and have another protein shake.

Then whatever my paretns make for supper. They always have a meat-pork chops, pork steak, hot beefs something, a ton of veggies-carrots/peas/corn, breads-whether it just be sliced bread or buns or rolls, and they try to get some form of potato on the table as well. Also, if salad is an option, ill do one of them before i dig into the main course.

Well, to put on muscle, you have to gain weight. Do you know how many calories you're getting? Have you been keeping track of your weight, and do you take regular measurements to track your progress? The change is gradual, so unless you're keeping careful track, you won't notice it easily.

Read this thread on gaining mass to get an idea of what you should be doing.
