Killer Curls - Wednesday, July 02, 2008 5:50 PM
Does anyone do these?
Back when I was in Highschool (late 70's) We did workout called Killer Curls. You get a partner and an standard weight bar (45lb). With no weights on the bar, you do one curl, up to chest-down to near elbow lock. Then hand the bar to your partner he does one of the same. He passes it back and you do two. You go back and forth until you get to ten, then count back down to one. Finished. The faster you do yours the less time your partner gets to rest. Make sure your not doing a half arm bent curl as you come down. Go near lockout of the elbow. This gives you a heck of a pump. I've seen peoples arms not bent a day or two after doing this. Later as you get better add weight to the bar. I don't see anyone doing these at my Gym. Anyone still do these?

I've done them before with different buddies. Were you asking any other question or just wanted to know if people still did them?

Good, Bad, Ugly?? We use to incorporate them at the end of the arm workout. I workout alone and thought about these the other day. To old school? Not effective?

I did them when I was 16, and didnt really know anything about lifting.  My friend told me they were great, so we did them.  We had weight on the bar though...like a 25 on each side.

I´ve done them in the past but only to switch things up in my workout.  I either go from one rep to ten or from ten to one, but not both ways in one workout, is just for "fun", not really a part of my workout.  My arms gets really good pump but I know they won´t grow if I incorporate it into my regular workout. Kinda like 21s, I did them when I started out until somebody told me I was wasting my time.

I've done something like that, but we kept going until we couldn't go higher, and then went down.

We got to like 26.

we do it differently.  we do 10 to 1's.  one person does 10, then hands it off, they do ten, then the first person does nine and so on.

i put 15 pounds on each side though, the 45 doesn't do it for me

I think any sort of team lifting should be banned.

Like the guy who rows the barbell as their partner benches.  It's the worst!
Please check it out.

I don't think you have to worry about needing something banned. Usually, as far as lifting goes, when something is wrong it catches up to you. Either the lift does nothing for you or you get hurt. Most people who do "funny" lifts at the gym, end up quitting before to long.

Dumbbell windmills.

I know a famous pro-wrestler who swore by that exercise in the late 70's and throughout the 80's, and now he can't effectively use his arms whatsoever. Can't even hold a pencil.

Theres always one that sticks to it no matter what...unfortunately, in his case.
