Keto and creatine - Friday, October 23, 2009 2:20 PM ( #1 )
I am bout to start cutting at the first of the month, and I want to give keto a shot. I have one problem though I know your only suppose to have about 30-50 grams of carbs a day, but I am bout to start taking creatine monohydrate again and I dont wanna drink some juice with my creatine after my workout a blow my carbs for the day.

So my question is can the the body absorb creatine well without the help of carbs?? This might be a make it or break it for me being on the keto diet.

Thanks guys and gals.

drink it with a warm beverage such as green tea, yerba mate, or black coffee.  No juice required.

its not 30-50g, its less than 30g.  You dont purposely take it carbs they just come in a little from other foods you eat like nuts and the little bit from veggies.  Only use creatine on the carb load days but use it every meal and load it up.

How does this help?

it doesnt.  in fact the caffeine inhibits absorption of creatine, so those are probably the worst things you could take it with.

Less than 30 grams of carbs for everyone? So a 130 pound female gets 30 and I as a 212 lb male only get 30 I don't really buy that. Is there a way to find out if your body is in ketosis?

Im just telling you how the diet is laid out.  You could get away with more carbs than that and still stay in keto.  The point is youre not supposed to take in any foods that are mainly carb sources besides fibrous veggies.

Caffeine only inhibits creatine at high dosages.  Creatine mixes very well with warm beverages, and the coffee, yerba or tea works well as a pre-workout booster.

Most of your posts are gold stone, but in this case you are using blanket coverage that is not accurate.  Sometimes things are not always black and white.

Its highly debated.  I would have to experiment on myself to really decide how I felt but there are studies that show it does and ones that show it doesn't, so I guess you're right that it's not always black and white.

Thank you for being diplomatic and not trying to flame me for my disagreement.  It has been getting incredibly harsh in here with all the personal attacks and flaming.

hey optimum at least its not as bad as bb.com forums some topics its 16 year olds talking **** for 5 pages. the **** talking has increased, but it still not as bad as it could be.

And thanks for the link I think i will try it with warm liquids cause heck i bought a $10 tub and it has lasted me 6 months. If it doesnt work im might waste like  50 cents worth.
