Keto and Supplements - Saturday, July 25, 2009 1:55 PM ( #1 )
Alright guys well i just started my ketogenic diet.. been eating pretty much just eggs, cheese, bacon, steak, and a little broccolli for the past couple days.. but i have been looking at my supplements-
MRI Black Powder
ON Whey protein
BCAA's (powder, pretty gross, anyone have a good thing to mix this with?)
100% Mono creatine (powder, tasteless)

MRI Black powder has 11 grams of carbs in it (it's sweetened obviously)... now i LOVE to use this pre-workout, but i assume I need to drop this from my regimen.
I use ON whey protein in my post workout shakes, and that doesn't have too much carbs so i should be able to keep that and the creatine shouldn't be hurting anything while i cut.  I recently added the BCAA's as most people said.

Is there anything else i need to add while on ketosis?  Do i need multi-vitamins or something?

I also want to add omega 3's and 6's (and 9's i guess.. why not? lol).  What brand is the cheapest and most reliable?

I use calcium and potassium since the diet doesnt provide much of them.  Also vitamin D because its a great supplement and it helps the calcium to absorb.

Same as RS, but dont forget the best keto supp of all- BEST FOODS MAYONNAISE. This stuff makes ketosis easy and can be eaten liberally unlike some cheeses and nuts/peanut butter which can provide too many carbs if overindulged on.

Wouldn't olive oil be superior to mayonnaise?  I can't stand that stuff.  Pretty easy to make tasty dressings with brown mustard olive oil and some seasoning.

olive oil is too expensive to be guzzling down all day.  Mayonnaise is great for keto.

The only thing I really like with mayo is broccoli chicken casserole, could work on keto too if you don't have rice or bread crumbs.

Mayo is my favorite thing with the keto. I like it with tuna more than anything really, I'm just worried about the mercury content in tuna.

As far as olive oil goes, I don't know how people drink fish oil, vegetable oil and all of that stuff. I poor vegetable oil in the pan when I fry eggs but never drink it (I don't know if you guys do that or not, just saying).
