What is your diet like, and your lifting routine? My guess would be endo. I would think (correct me guys) you could actually put on some muscle and lose some fat simultaneously in your condition. Good workin' out! And welcome! :)

Start out bulking and building muscle like anyone else would. Good training program (look up starting strength) Follow a good clean diet. As for frame, I would say endo-meso.

Nm0ney34 Start out bulking and building muscle like anyone else would. Good training program (look up starting strength) Follow a good clean diet. As for frame, I would say endo-meso. i dont know if i would say he should start bulking like anyone else. hes sitting at well over 20% BF and the more fat that you have the harder your eventual cut is going to be. if he bulks his body is either going to create more fat cells through hyperplasia, or enlarge his existing fat cells which would not be too advantageous with his current physique. and when a person diets of course these fat cells can shrink but they can not be eliminated. so either adding any more fat cells, or enlarging his current fat cells just doesn't make sense to me. i agree he should start off with something like starting strength which is perfect for beginners but i think he should go on a caloric deficit and focus on gaining strength rather then a surplus which of course would add some muscle but would not get rid of his excess body fat. go on a ketogenic diet, i admit i am biased towards keto because i love it more then anything in this world but if he doesn't want to do keto he should just go on a 500 below maintenance diet, lifting 3x a week, HIIT 4x a week and keeping his carbs to pre and post workout. once he gets down to a reasonable bodyfat % then he could start up a clean bulk but in my opinion anyone starting out with this high of bodyfat should focus on leaning up before clean bulking.
Current: 19, 5'11", 190@7% bench:305 squat:370(atg) deadlift:475 Goals: 4plate squat, 5plate dead "obsessed is a word the lazy use to describe the dedicated"

Guys, Shouldn't he keep diet as is as far as calories go, but clean out the junk? He's never trained so he'll get newbie gains and burn fat at the same time, no? Let's get this project started already! :)

You have yourself listed at 5'10 around 277lbs? but looking at your image you don't seem like you be could anywhere near 277lbs. Is that a typo? From looking at the pic, and you being 5'10 I would say you couldn't weight more than 230 tops.. Your frame doesn't appear to be that big.. as far as bodytype.. endo-meso.. Is that a recent pic at said weight, 277lbs? or an older one before you gained?

Let's get this project started already! :) I agree, I think his best bet would to clean up his diet, worry about changes in calories later. It would allow him to build more muscle right off the bat then to cut calories, especially since starting to lift will make him even more hungry. as for program, Starting Strength or something similar should get you going in the right direction. And my guess is endo-meso or close to it. Don't forget if he can gain a bit of muscle it will raise his metabolism and make shedding fat even easier when he works towards that goal.

I agree too.. if he starts training 3-4 days weekly and throws in some type of cardio.. combine that with cleaning up the diet and the fat will start melting off.. OP.. lots of warning signs from your pic.. your male, can't really tell your age but you don't appear to be in your teens.. narrow hips, "not carrying a lot of weight in your hips and legs" and carrying most of the fat in your stomach and chest.... perfect candidate for a heart attack.. Not trying to be negative or scare you but coming to this site and taking it's adivce could possibly save your life. I would highly advice you to go to a doctor and get a complete physical including blood work before starting any type of cardio or weight training.

He also said he really wasnt worried about getting "ripped" why I just suggested to bulk as anyone else with a clean diet. I agree that right now the best thing he can do is clean up his diet and that is the most important. He would end up burning fat and building muscle with his diet in check. I would slowly get into cardio by walking into jogging. and get into a solid training program (starting strength) Here: http://www.discussbodyb...to-training-m480790.aspx I wrote this, its not completely done but the info and links would be a great resource for you to read. In it is the routine I recommend you start. And I have links to Dans gaining/losing threads at the bottom of the post.

But being 5'10 and weighing 277lbs with the majority of the fat being stored in your midsection, you have the classic body type for those who have a high risk of hear attack.. I apologize if I offended you.

j4tc, Yeah, we're just tryin' to help you, man! It's all good! Never hurts for any of us to see a doc annually. I'm overdue myself. Try to clean as much junk out of your diet as possible and replace with good natural food. And a good basic starter routine (may as well start with free weights, and compound moves, imo) would get you on your way. Maintain the cardio. Maybe try some HIIT (high intensity interval training) if the cardio is not taking fat off. The body adapts quickly to cardio and it sounds like you're not mixing that up. Mix it up to shock the bod. Hope that helps! You truly are in good hands here, imho! Good workin' out! :)

I was in the same position as you about a year ago, i played water polo for my high school team but could never shed off the pounds. Right when i started weightlifting i noticed a significant decrease in body fat. It almost goes against what they tell you, that cardio burns fat more than weightlifting. In my case, that statement is completely false. I am an endo-meso so if burning fat is alike for us, take up the weights man.

well its all about calories in vs energy expended... Lifting weights while in excess will cause you to build muscle instead of storing everything as fat usually. This alone will cause you to "burn" fat because the more muscle you have in your body, the more calories you burn. Theres no doubt that if you started on a good routine you will start seeing results, simply because of the above. Keep doing your cardio though. A healthy and fit cardiovascualr system is just as important. Once you start weight lifting, getting rid of your "junk food" will be the next step. I will tell you this though, eliminating sugar or keeping it to a bare minimum is essential.

Yes ... id def get my diet in check and lose some weight ... like they said, its just bad for your health ... not to mention you will look 100% better. Then id look at doing a clean bulk.
