Hey guys... It's been a while since I've worked out due to a shoulder surgery. This is my deal for the time being.... I want to get back in shape but I understand its a slow dedicated process. I went out on Friday and bought the "Power Tower" (Pull up/dips/push ups/etc.). My goal for the next 2 months is to work out on the tower exclusively with body weight excersises until I am decently cut and strong enough to start lifting weights. Whenever I begin to go to the gym and lift weights from scratch I get discouraged, so this time I'm gonna work hard on this tower for a month or two until I'm fit enough to begin with weights at the gym... I eat 5 to 6 meals a day now, and I started Whey Protien and Cell Tech Creatine on Saturday (still loading). On Saturday I started with some pushups (2 sets to failure), did a few sets of dips, and a few sets of chinups. When I woke up the next day I couldn't move...I obviously still continued with my diet and supplements while I was recovering. Today (Wensday) I did my second work out now that my muscles finally healed after 4 days. I did 2 sets of perfect pushup, 20 then 15...4 sets of dips.. and 4 sets of chin ups...eventually I will start adding weights to these excersises. Here is my problem... As far as dips are concerned..when I'm fresh I could do about 8 or 9 reps, but only for the first set...then I could hardly pull off 4 or 5 on my 2nd, 3rd, and 4th set. The same thing with the chin ups, push ups, etc... Can someone help me with a routine of sets, rep amounts, and breaks in between sets with these particular bodyweight excersises? Like I said fresh I can pull off almost 10 dips and 10 chinups, but after that first set its all down hill and my muscles are too fatigued and I feel I'm not getting a good enough workout because I drain myself on the first few sets. If it matters, I am noticing cuts in my muscles only after 2 workouts lol. I'm 23 yrs old, 5'9 150lbs. I'm not looking to be Shwartzanager...I want to be ripped up, strong, and in shape. Thanks in advace. -Steve

Your already ready for weights, just take that back and start out light. Also if your intent on sticking with bodyweight stuff, get some bodyweight squats and leg stuff in there.
Goals by end of 2009: Bench 205 Squat 255 ATG Squat Clean 185 "There is no elevator to success, you must take the stairs."

thanks for the response connelly but I'm gonna stick to what I said for the first month or two. I have a membership to LA Fitness, its not that I dont want to go to the gym. I'm gonna stick with the bodyweight excercises until I get strongER than I am now. So...still need help..thanks

for the pushups I would strongly recommend doing the 100 pushup challenge, google it, it gives you a whole routine for 6 weeks, I think you could use it to your advantage http://hundredpushups.com/ also if your interested in some bodyweight squats http://www.twohundredsquats.com/
