Jump strength HELP!!!

I need stronger legs to be able to jump higher. I was wondering of what types of exercises are good for it. I know squating is 1 but whats some others. Muscles I need stronger are quads, hams, calfs, and lower back.

Squats, deadlifts, calf raises, stiff leg deadlifts- All those will help build up the areas you're talking about, but you really need to work on explosive strength if you're worried about jumping. If you go for just strength, you'll build big, heavy legs that won't necessarily help get you off the ground a good distance- In fact, they might actually impede your jumping ablility. Building muscles by moving large amounts of weight will only prepare your muscle to move large amounts of weight- Your muscles won't be built for the explosive sort of power you need for jumping. Look for more jumping related workouts, the best way to train for a specific purpose is to do purpose specific training.

Should I do just pylometrics then for legs? They say what pylometrics do is shorten your stretch and shorting cycle allowing you to jump higher. But isnt there a limit on how fast you can do it?

yo andy i know i mentioned it to you earlier but you should consider strength shoes. They advertise 5-10 inches on your vert and .2 seconds of your 40 yd dash. It worked for me man, but good luck on whatever u do and keep me updated cuz im trying to increase my vert again to like we were talking about on another post

I quit all sports besides bodybuilding and boxing so I dont care much anymore. But I do know all there is about it now. exercises you should do are... cleans, squats, calf raises,GHR,fron squat, split squat, rythem squats, dead lift, lounges, and leg press. pylos you should do... depth jumps, box jumps, and bounds. exercise that helped me alot was to hold a 25 pound plate and have wrist wieghts on so its a total of 30 pound and I ran up the stairs 2 steps at a time so my legs up to a 90 degree. Do it as fast as possible for 5x4 a set being up 5 times down 5 times.

i think the best one out there, the best program is aware-jump.com i have tried loooooots of programs, most them are garbage. i can tell you, they suck. they are not as effective as they claim them to be. i gained, who knows maybe 7, 8 maybe 9 or more inches in like 4-5 weeks. so, if you are interested in increasing your vertical, if you want to cut to the chase go for aware jump i can vouch for it.

I would try some different types of plyometrics. The best way to improve your vertical is to jump and work on your explosion. Box jumps work great. Trying to keeping going and work of exploding as fast as you can off the ground. I have actually heard good things about jump soles. 10-12 inches no, but I play basketball with a guy who used them a few years back and he did get a noticable increase from them, prob 5 inches. 5 inches is a lot
