Aight, my dad just sold my gym equipment and his only excuse is he bought it!. I just got a job and it doesn't pay well but I don't do rocket science work. I get around 50 bucks a week. So while I'm gettin money I've tried to organise how I'm going to spend it.
Powerhouse Olympic Bench
Spartan 300 Pound Weight Set
Total (with tax): $268.15

See, I did my homework. Smile
BUT, the reason for this post is I'm wondering if I'm getting a good deal. I know its expensive but I want the good stuff now so I don't have to buy it later after the old one is no good.

If I were you, I'd spend some more on the bench and get something you can do squats with- Since we can't all have a full squat rack as part of our home gym setup, you might want to look into something like this one, which has a pretty wide lower catch for the weights in case something goes wrong. The bench you linked to doesn't have anything except a high catch for the weights, where you would be starting the squat. I'm not saying you should get the one I linked to specifically, but look around for something similar for less money if you can.

True.. but if he makes about $50 a week, that's only an extra 2 weeks for superior more usable equipment. And the guy clearly has done his homework and states that he wants to get the most for his money at a reasonable price. An extra $100 for the potential to do squats and more safety features would be worth it.

Not saying the one he choose wasn't good, my first impression (pictures only) was that the extra $100 would get him a more stable looking bench setup with a few more features.

Yep- Like I said, it doesn't have to be the same bench I linked to, but he should look for something that's as safe and sturdy as possible for your money. Squats are a must, and safety's a must- That's where you spend your money.

how about this bench? It's defenitely cheaper with squat. And Scarface13, I hope that store, Dick's Sporting Goods, is close to you because the bench's shipping cost can sometimes be more expensive than the actual bench.
