Jheft's Progress Pics (new pics: 2008-03-08)

Jump to the last page for the latest pics... I've gotten around to taking some progress pictures again. Some of these are in comparison to pictures I took in January right when I started. Others are compared to February pictures because I didn't have a closely matching pose from January. First, a front relaxed pose... [image]local://15566/62A80C20CD984C1A8030E75EEEAD5C05.jpg[/image]

Calves (current picture). Don't have a good before shot. I have a lot of trouble getting good pictures of my calves for some reason. In this picture, my left looks better than my right, but in actuality, my right is much more defined and a little bigger than the left. Thanks for the feedback. Any other comments? Flames? CHiPs fans?

Ha you went from a blonde white man to a black haired mexican in only 5 months, damnnnn. Seriously though, good progress though. You can definently see a nice difference in the front relaxed and back poses. Keep it up

Actually, believe it or not, my quads haven't gotten much bigger, but they have gotten a bit more defined as I've cut the fat down. My legs have always been disproportionately muscular compared to my upper body, probably because I've been biking casually for several years but only started lifting weights in January. My calves, for instance are still like an inch and a half bigger than my arms (correct proportions would have them at about the same size), even though they've only gained a little since I started working out, and my arms have gained quite a lot. My best improvements in strength are in my back - bent over dumbbell rows and straight leg dead-lifts. Part of my back pictures is deceiving though - the fat around my waist is going away, which makes the upper back look wider by comparison. Still, I'll take it. @Shark - you can see my routine in my journal (link in my sig), it's not completely up-to-date, but you can get the gist. To be honest, I'm not completely satisfied with the split. I've got an off week coming up in a couple weeks, then I'm gonna switch it up.

More graphs - here are my measurements. You can probably see where I stopped bulking and started cutting. [image]local://15566/AE8652F20BB240E68920694D95E35389.gif[/image]

It's really clear where I started cutting in this one. My chest measurement is moving in two directions at once because I'm gaining on my lats, but I also have a lot of fat in my chest/armpit area that I'm losing. [image]local://15566/B07BBA96ACB34B97A3F609C0FE2C7527.gif[/image]

I can only tell a difference in the quads, just being honest. The progress will probably be more apparent afteryou cut down

The charts are what impress me most... up 19 pounds lean mass and down 16 pounds of fat... what program did you use to do those with?

I took a couple more pictures that emphasize the change in my body composition. In these photos I'm about 180 pounds, which is only 5 pounds lighter than when I started, but I've lost more than 5 inches from my waist, so I've clearly got some significant muscle gain offsetting a lot of lost fat. Whenever I worry about my progress, I can look at how my clothes fit now and laugh. [image]local://15566/754E0A8C39654B09A7AE80A853B0F5FC.jpg[/image]

Gotta kill that back-fat still. If you look at my before pictures up-thread, you can see I'm wearing these same pants without a belt in some of the pictures. Obviously, I can't do that anymore! [image]local://15566/77A86B752E4F414FB1B7CA9B4683D463.jpg[/image]

Oh, and the charts were Openoffice, but you can do the same stuff in Excel I'm sure.
