Its Supplement time - Saturday, June 12, 2004 10:38 PM
Hey there, I have been working out for exactly a year now, and I want to try sum supplements. I have taken creatine for about 4 weeks and noticed nothing much. But now I was thinking of taking N02 but many people say it doesnt work effectively and is a waste, So I dont know which supplements to take. This is what i was thinking of picking up this week: Glutamine, Creatine and whey protein. Would taking those 3 before and after each workout have good results? thanks in advance.

I've never taken Glutamine, so I can't comment on that- I have heard the same things about NO2, but again, I've never personally used it, so I can't say...
Other than that, protein is a must for any diet. Taking a protein shake right after a workout is a great idea, since your body needs to absorb protein very quickly right after a workout, and a good protein shake can be absorbed very quickly. You should also have another shake or two throughout the day to keep your protein intake up there. Creatine is worth a shot too- But I'd recommend trying just the protein for a few months to see how that works by itself. Then, when you try the creatine, you'll be able to tell if it's really making a difference. There's a certain percentage of people who don't respond to creatine, and if you try more than one supplement at once, you'll never be able to tell which one was working for you, and which one might be a waste of your money.
Hope this helps!

Nooooooooooooooo.......

Actually I'm now taking about 20g of Glutamine a day. 10g before training and 10g after.

Do I notice anything? No.

It's not something that gives you an effect like NO2 will. And Glutamine for the bodybuilder is still up for debate.

What are "good results"? Are you going to gain muscle mass faster than without them? YES! Are you going to blow up week to week gaining 2 lbs of lean mass per week until you are Mr. O? Probably not! I know that sounds crazy because I throw alot of sarcasm into the mix... but lets think about it. How many of us think 2 lbs a week of gain is unreasonable... I can point to a post of mine that says that I can do it (how stupid was I at the time?). You might be able to do it for a week but beyond that it just ain't happening that's 100 lbs of muscle in a year. I think that 20 lbs in a year is attainable for just about anyone and I would call that good results. Taking all that stuff might mean 3 or 4 lbs to you in a year which is pretty significant in my eyes.

Good luck,
D

Not true. You can take it anytime. It is a quick way to get protein after your workout, but if you have access to something like tuna, or skinless chicken after your workout, that will work just as good.

Actually, I think 8pack was talking about this-

Would taking those 3 before and after each workout have good results?

I think he meant it's not necessary to take it before a workout, only after.

I've been watching from high above...

Actually i've just been busy working on my car, helping some friends move, and I went and took care of my Moms house while she was on vacation.

Just busy with life.
