well you cant get any nutrition from meat, but besides that i couldn't live without steak atleast once a week .

he is just very lean, being vegetarian definitely has huge drawbacks in the world of weight lifting/bodybuilding.  You need to be very careful where you get your protein as too much soy raises estrogen levels and can be very counterproductive.

Could you simplify that abit for me?
And what did you mean by very "lean"

I mean does it make a huge difference when it comes to strength and building muscle and endurance?

>being vegetarian definitely has huge drawbacks in the world of weight lifting/bodybuilding

I am not exactly building for the world of weight lifting etc. More of a nice & healthy body , strong etc.

I don't wanna be a "HULK" more like this:
But being a vegetarian does it affect the strength or endurance of the body?

And what do you mean when you said it raises estrogen levels?

From what I've seen, it's a lot easier for a vegie to get that very chiseled and cut look, but very difficult for them to get big.  If that's the look (cut) you're going for, I'd say that you'd achieve it easier than the rest of us carnivorous types.  I spent about 4 years as a vegetarian, ate like a freaking horse, and lost 20lbs and was very lean.  For MY particular goals in lifting, I wouldn't even attempt a vegitarian diet.

Hey Bradley!
Sorry for taking so long to reply,

I was really busy these past days.

Concerning being a Vegetarian.

I can't really tell for sure if being a vegetarian has how much of an effect on bodybuilding.
Because I've always been a vegetarian.
I've never experienced eating meat and lifting weights before.

I can say however, that I've found it very hard to put on weight.

But there were also some reasons behind that.

1) I just wan't eating enough,

2) My weight gain was always purely lean weight.

I didn't like the idea of "bulking-up" then cutting.
I was trying to gain muscle and loose fat at the same time. (which is a bit antagonistic.)

Right now I'm around 157 lbs.
I've gained a significant amount of muscle since I've forced myself to eat enough.

My personal opinion to you is,
If you like being a vegetarian, the stick to it!

As you said, you're not trying to get huge like Hulk,
A healthy look is what you are looking for.
There are some risks that comes along with eating meat,
I'm not saying that meat is bad, but I won't force myself to eat it if I don't want to.

Getting gains with Bodybuilding all comes back down to the basics.
Eat more Calories than you burn, Eat sufficient Protein 0.6-1.0g per lb of your bodyweight.
Cardio, Balanced Diet, etc...

Once you keep your basics right, you won't have any problem achieving your goals.

All these things like, Supplements, The perfect Protein Blend, Stimulants, etc... aren't really necessary.

Get your Protein from nuts and grains, beans, dairy, and soya, and fish also if you eat that, and you'll have more that enough proteins in the required amounts.
Vegetarians need to get mixed sources of proteins.

One other thing I've found out too.

I used to always want to be huge and buffed before, ny goals were to reach around +220 lbs!

But I've realized, that many people that size don't really feel that comfortable with themselves, and movement becomes more sluggish etc.

Plus girls rather lean and cut men ;) (who have decent muscle mass also to back it up of course)

How many "Hulks" do you see in Hollywood?
Brad Pit?
no

It looks overall better to be lean with some muscle mass, than to be the "Hulkest" guy on he block ;)
(Just my opinion)

I quite satisfied with my vegetarian diet, and I wouldn't advise you otherwise.

But my opinion might be biased, so don't take my word only for it.

You must do allot of your own research if you aim for lifelong fitness.

There are too many biased opinions, and different point of views in the Health industry.
Most of those researchers are liars also.

But just focus on the basic keys of bodybuilding, stick to it, and you'll have no problem my friend!

If you need any other advise, please feel free to reply!

All the best in your training!

-Andrew

I can respect those who don't eat meat for their own reasons (except for that PETA ****), but to avoid meat for a weightlifting regimine is quite stupid. The same results can be achieved with a well-rounded diet and self-control.
18 yrs.
175 lbs
BF% N/A, estimated 18-20%

Stacking ON 100% Whey, water and a whole lot of food!
