Ive used creatine before with no negative side effects, such as bloating or diarrhea, so will it effect my kidney or liver. I dont currently have any liver or kidney problems.

Probally not. All I got at 15 y.o was taking a dump 6+ times a day. :) But each to his own. Shouldnt kill your kidneys/liver too badly, if at all.

i took it at 16 with no problems at all. the kidney problems come with not drinking enough water. if ur drinking extra water there should be no problem.

ORIGINAL: danmirage Creatine is in beef....thats why beef gives you the "big" feeling... It is not a "drug." It helps with between set recovery. Thats it. Which can help increase intensity. Adds water volume to muscle sure... But if your training is going fine...you don't really need it. I read that creatine and protein, basically one of them helps you grow by adding fat to your muscle, when muscle grows it needs fat. Well, I got around 23% of body fat (mostly in my stomach, some in hands). Since I got enough of fat, do I need to take these protein shakes, creatine, etc. to help my muscle grow? So far my muscles have been improving, I dranked shakes couple of times with protein and creatine (most of the time with protein) to help muscles heal faster, but I don't see any difference when I don't use it at all. Should I keep on drinking or I'm good the way I am?

Yes, 3g a day is just enough. Later on you can go up to 5g if you really would like to. If your going with the monohydrate Id recommend you to take it after your workout since if you try taking it before your workout, you will feel nauseated, and you will feel like throwing up. If you can find some dextrose sugar, take your monohydrate with it, If not, just mix with grape juice since it has dextrose sugar. But no Orange juice or some others. If your taking CEE, simply follow directions, usually 2 caps in the morning and 2 after workout, but it varies. Gallon of water a day, dont forget, especially with mono.

So loading isn't necessary? I was checking this brand, http://www.epharmacy.com.au/product.asp?id=43268&pname=Musashi+100%25+Pure+Creatine+Monohydrate+160g and it seems there's a loading phase, 20-30grams! that's alot...anywayz, I'm currently using protein powder as a post-workout drink, and I'm thinking of juz eating food instead (although i noe it takes longer to digest than liquid) after i finish up with it, cos it's a bit expensive to having protein powder everytime, and plus i get enough protein during the day.... btw, I was checking wikipedia, and they were saying how scientists don't noe exactly why it causes weight gain, but possibly because of water retention. so this mean's if i take creatine, and gain weight, I'll most likely lose the weight? i'm kinda thinkin of purchasing creatine so yea, if anyone noe's about that brand i mention......

Science does know what leads to the weight gain. Every gram of creatine phosphate that moves into the muscle stores water along with it. quote:
and it seems there's a loading phase, 20-30grams! You can skip the loading phase. It is not essential. quote:
I'm currently using protein powder as a post-workout drink You need to learn about how post workout nutrition works. That is not the best idea. we are discussing this here... http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/sugar_post-workout/m_169519/tm.htm You shoudl learn from the posts in there that you need much less protein than you do the right carbs...so you might save money there by using half what you use now! quote:
I'm thinking of juz eating food instead While not optimal because of the Anabolic Window...it is still fine! But read that other thread! quote:
i'm kinda thinkin of purchasing creatine so yea, if anyone noe's about that brand i mention...... I don't know the company..but if it is in fact pure..that is fine. But shop for best price per serving as well as purity.

loading phases are to make you burn up the tub faster so companies make more money IMO.

Yeah creatine will help you get bigger, if you take it right and exercise and eat right. I took it at 13 and 14. It didn't do me good then, but at 16 it would've.

reply to danmirage: yea, sorry i didn't mention anything, i meant i actually take protein with an apple immediately after a workout, then a meal within 1hr. i juz cut it short :D....anywayz back to creatine.. btw, with the weight gain i was reading from wikipedia, i'll juz quote it quote:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creatine Some studies have shown that creatine supplementation increases both total and fat-free body mass, though it is difficult to say how much of this is due to the training effect. Since body mass gains of about 1 kg (about 2.2 pounds) can occur in a week's time, several studies suggest that the gain is simply due to greater water retention inside the muscle cells. However, studies into the long-term effect of creatine supplementation suggest that body mass gains cannot be explained by increases in intracellular water alone. In the longer term, the increase in total body water is reported to be proportional to the weight gains, which means that the percentage of total body water is not significantly changed. The magnitude of the weight gains during training over a period of several weeks argue against the water-retention theory.

ok...what amount of creatine to take and how many days a wk (everyday?) would you recommend for a 19 yr old working out 4 times a day? And when to go on the resting period? BTW, could you explain about the gaining mass part a bit simplier? Like the gains for a new taker etc.... and btw, how do you say if u wanna consume 3 grams, how do you take that amount exactly, cos it's a really small amount and hard to measure? Thanks
